New Dacia Duster without central locking - Francuskie.pl - Dziennik Motoryzacyjny

Groupe Renault is seeking ways to deal with the semiconductor shortage crisis. According to the L'argus portal, one of the methods is to offer vehicles without certain equipment. For example, Dacia Duster in the French market can be delivered to customers without central locking, and some versions of Renault Clio have been deprived of electric folding mirrors.

The lack of semiconductors means that car manufacturers have to make some compromises. Instead of postponing the already delayed delivery dates, they offer customers the opportunity to pick up vehicles without some options or with the hope of installing the ordered equipment at a later, unspecified date.

At the time of the debut of the new Renault Arkana this spring, the company had to withdraw its 10-inch digital clocks for a while. The equipment returned to the model catalog, but the availability of screens is still not obvious. According to the automotive magazine L'argus, the second generation Renault Kangoo, Express, Trafic and Master models for the French market may be produced with a non-functional multimedia system. Dealers will be responsible for adding the screen as soon as components become available. Dacia also used this method in the Duster before the facelift.

Half-measures don't always work

Semiconductors are pretty much everywhere in the car, not just in screens. In the case of some components, such as air conditioning compressors supplied by Marelli, ABS and ESP sensors from Bosch or Continental, and airbag control units, there are no half-measures. After all, no one will remove the airbags from the vehicle, which is why the delivery time of the order may be longer. Due to the lack of chips, Dacia has repeatedly stopped car production at its factories this year.

Dacia Duster and Sandero models sold in France may be missing central locking. Mechanics at the Dealership will be responsible for the assembly. The depletion of equipment also affected the power folding mirrors on some versions of Clio, Captura and Arkana, and the Easy Drive package consisting of active cruise control, blind spot detection and highway and traffic jam assistant.

Renault Zoe, Clio and Captur can be delivered without Active Emergency Braking System (AEBS). Even the Euro NCAP organization will adapt to the exceptional situation, which will add a note to the model information indicating that the 5 stars do not apply to cars without AEBS. A similar exception was made for the Ford Puma.
