The parking revolution is comingEurobuildcee

Paying with a smartphone for a parking space or a special application that indicates free space to stop - such solutions are no longer an exception.Municipal parking lots in European metropolises are increasingly equipped with innovative systems.Wireless sensors save data on seating, inform about payments and automatically notify municipal officials, facilitating their parking rates, depending on the demand, location and time of day.And drivers get information about which places and in which region are available. The popularity of intelligent parking systems is also growing in Polish cities. They use various technologies, but most operate based on systems using GPS data from drivers smartphones and sensors placed in parking lots.

Many systems - one goal

One of such solutions is the Smart Parking system from Comarch, which was implemented with pilot M.in.in Gdansk. It is based on the collection of data based on the so -called.videos.Energa Lighting is a partner of the Gdańsk project.- Our system allows the use of many data recording methods depending on the type of parking, its location, positioning and type of space. We use cameras and video data for this purpose, which are able to recognize not only the condition of the parking space, but also.in.Incorrect parking. The second method used is the use of magnetic sensors, surface -mounted under each parking space. The method is selected in terms of a specific location.Cameras and video algorithms have an advantage especially where we can cover the camera view of a large number of places.Sensors are a good solution, but their specificity of assembly and interference in the infrastructure of the road causes that this is not as flexible as cameras, especially in the event of changes in the organization of traffic in a given area - explains Wojciech Dec, Product Manager from Comarch Smart City.

Jego zdaniem rozwiązanie wdrożonein Gdansk to dobry przykład nowoczesnych technologii z obszaru smart city.Intelligent cameras placed directly on street lanterns perform instant video analysis and provide data on free places to city officials and residents.- Our solution is also found with the interest of customers in smaller towns, but also on the commercial market, including in the shopping centers - adds Wojciech Dec.Currently, the company is working on implementations and piloting similar systems also outside Poland.- In addition to information about the free parking spaces of the city, they obtain full traffic statistics and are able to verify the role and impact of the newly created investment on the transport of hybrids - informs Wojciech Dec.- We want new solutions to be dedicated to residents and tourists, to have a preview if it is worth moving by car, and if so, where it will be easier to get and park - says Tomasz Wawrzonek, deputy director of DS.management at the Gdańsk Road and Greenery Board

It is better to examine the ground

- We have been investing in intelligent transport systems (ITS) for over eight years. The system implemented together with Comarch on ul..Long gardens were complemented by these activities and looking for an additional path of information development and parking infrastructure.Experiences from this pilot served to us to a large extent as a experimental training ground, data about the degree of use of places and the rotation was collected for our needs.Consequently, they were useful for analyzes aimed at expanding the paid parking zone - says Tomasz Wawrzonek, deputy director of DS.management at the Gdańsk Road and Greenery Board.Currently, Gdańsk, however, will introduce systems based on sensors dedicated to any parking place. In the near future, M is planned.in.digitizing the most important coastal parking lots, i.e..parking lot at the extension of Jana Pawła II Street, which is a key element of parking facilities of the pub areas, and parking lots in the Jelitkowo district and in Przymorze.- We want new solutions to be dedicated to residents and tourists, to have a preview if it is worth moving by car, and if so, where it will be easier to get and park.In addition, it will be related to information on the so -called.variable content boards on the main access routes and an application that will be one of the system elements - says Tomasz Wawrzonek. It is worth implementing new solutions, starting first from the pilot.- It is always better to find out the ground and see what is hidden under the water surface before you jump, because then you can be unpleasant surprised - adds the Gdańsk official.According to him, the next problem is technological issues, which are also complicated.Paradoxically, it is not so obvious and easy at all.- The strategy of financing ITS systems also surprised us a bit - at the moment it is difficult to get direct European funds for such solutions, they are intended for the expansion of tram lines or infrastructure elements that can be attached to ITS systems - adds Tomasz Wawrzonek.

Pioneering e-parking in Warsaw

Other Polish cities choose a slightly shorter road and immediately write tenders that apply to comprehensive solutions. They include both intelligent parking lots, charging fees in the parking zone, and providing information on the number of free places in a given area.Warsaw has been preparing for the introduction of such a system for a long time.- Currently six companies have joined the dialogue with the city.In the course of conversations, all key issues regarding the future system are explained, which is why we do not declare the exact date, location and number of places covered by the system today - says Mikołaj Pieńkos, head of the Social Communication Department from the Municipal Roads Board.Ultimately, the Warsaw E-parking system is to be one of the most modern in Europe. It will cover about 30 thousand.parking spaces. It will be in Nimm.in. mapa wolnychparking spaces w Strefie Płatnego Parkowania Niestrzeżonego (SPPN).Special sensors or cameras will check live if there is a car at a given point. In turn, drivers with a mobile application will quickly find the best route to their destination and pay for parking.

The Warsaw ZDM estimates that the introduction of a new system will bring many benefits.Drivers will save time and fuel (even 1.5 thousand.PLN per year). The emission of carbon dioxide and other harmful substances will also fall. The communication situation in the center of the capital will also improve.Today, cars circulating in search of parking places constitute up to 20-30 percent.traffic in the city center. The project will be implemented thanks to funding from the European Union under the so -called.Virtual Warsaw Functional Area. They will also join the system with time M.in.Legionowo, brands, Pruszków, Radzymin and Ząbki. The capital has already received an EU subsidy for launching and operating the system in 2020-2026.However, the implementation of such a large and pioneering project requires time and many preparations. So that the system can cover e.g..paid parking zone, it is necessary to map all streets and equip them with monitoring devices.Data update will also be a challenge.Initially, the project implementation time, including the design and preparation of applications, databases as well as the purchase and installation of equipment throughout the zone, was estimated at about 24 months.- After completing the competitive dialogue, the Contractor will be invited to submit bids and then it will be possible to select the Contractor. At the moment, however, I can't provide specific dates - adds Mikołaj Pieńkos.- The capital of Podkarpacie will thus the first city in Poland using MESH 5G technology - announces Paweł Sokołowski, director of DS.Smart City development in Asseco Data Systems

Smart City in the capital of Podkarpacie

However, Warsaw can be ahead of Rzeszów.The innovative intelligent parking system is to operate in Rzeszów as early as 2021.The value of the investment implemented by Asseco Data Systems will amount to PLN 14.7 million. The solution is liquefied in the paid parking zone and will shorten the time needed to find a free parking space.Cameras, sensors and neural networks will collect and analyze data about parking cars around the area covered by the streets of streets.Information about free places will be transmitted to interactive information boards located in the paid parking zone and through the mobile application made available to residents. It will also be integrated with external applications enabling the parking fee to be paid.According to Asseco, this solution currently operates in only a few European cities.- This is a unique project in the field of Smart City.In addition to the measuring and monitoring system, we will also build a data transmission system here, which will be a relay between the so -called.Supervision Center and all the elements of the system, we will also modernize the Data Processing Center.Importantly, an infrastructure of a fiber optic network will be created in the center of Rzeszów, using the existing LMDS and MESH network, which in the future will allow connection with other urban facilities. The capital of Podkarpacie will be the same the first city in Poland using MESH 5G technology - says Paweł Sokołowski, director of DS.Smart City development in Asseco Data Systems.

Comprehensive in Katowice

Katowice also focused on innovative, system solutions. The city has recently announced a tender for an intelligent control system. Its element is to be a mobile application, thanks to which moving a car around the Silesian metropolis will become easier. The system is intended to cover the area of the entire city, not just the center or selected districts.PLN 60 million was initially reserved in the budget of the capital of the Silesian Voivodeship. The solution is to consist of M.in.from plaques informing drivers in real time about road incidents or necessary detours. There will also be more cameras who can read the registration numbers of passing cars. All data will flow to the Movement Management Center at ul..Młyńska 4.One of the system elements will also be a mobile application. Thanks to it, the smartphone will show traffic conditions, busy parking spaces, recommended detours, fluidity of travel routes, as well as a travel plan. The system will also notify us about road accidents and traffic lights, but not only.We will also find out M.in.About mass events, what is the weather, as well as how to get to the nearest gas station or travel service point. For now, however, it is not known when the system will be implemented.- Three offers were received in the tender, which we are currently analyzing, they all exceed the assumed budget. At this point, no decision has been made yet, an analysis of offers is underway - informs Agnieszka Sitko from the Transport Department of the City of Katowice.Among the offers who stood up to the tender are M.in.Companies such as Siemens Mobility, Sprint and a consortium of Spanish companies: Aldes Construcciones and Aeronval de Construcciones E installations, which offered PLN 82 million.- Our solution is also found with the interest of customers in smaller towns, but also on the commercial market, including in the sales sector - says Wojciech Dec from Comarch

Access control in Smart City

According to Tomasz Wawrzonka, intelligent solutions implemented in parking lots are increasingly involved in M.in.access control, i.e. the possibility of entering specific zones in cities.- Currently, we are trying to automate systems for identifying vehicles entering specific areas in the city, to which you can get through special identifiers.Today, the only way to control such an area is the presence of policemen and city guards, which carries restrictions. We want it to take place automatically - the driver drives up before the emerging bars preventing the entry, the system recognizes the vehicle's rights, hides bars and let the car into the zone.Such systems already operate in other cities and we are not pioneers. They are based.in.on license plate recognition systems. In turn, we are wondering whether to decide on a kind of hybrid, i.e. a combination of table recognition system with radio identification technology, so that on this basis you can get permission to enter a specific zone - explains Tomasz Wawrzonek.

Depending on your needs, intelligent parking systems may also be equipped with other functions. For example, in Piaseczno near Warsaw, there are 10 ultrasonic sensors as part of the intelligent parking system to measure the level of basket filling and six alarm flood sensors for monitoring water level in rivers and drainage ditches.A set of sensors examining the natural environment (temperature measurement, noise level and humidity) was also installed.- Thanks to new technologies and online things, our commune can become more friendly to residents, better organized and more efficiently using resources - assures Daniel Putkiewicz, Mayor of the City and Commune of Piaseczno. The comprehensive system was provided by Emitel, which installed 130 sensors for the needs of M.in.remote measurement of the occupancy of parking spaces in the town near Warsaw.

For small and large

In city centers, road users looking for a parking space account for up to 40 percent.general traffic intensity. In response to the challenges facing city agglomerations. It is a technology that allows central monitoring and management of parking spaces in the city by guiding users of traffic M.in.through information services, parking signs.Drivers can access current data in the parking lot via a municipal internet portal or modern navigation system. These solutions can be used both in small towns and in agglomerations. They successfully operate in many cities in Germany (M.in.Freiburg, Wuppertal, Stuttgart, Karlsruhe) and Switzerland (Bern, Lugano) and Luxembourg.Elements of this system were also used in Poznań.Currently, parking supporting technologies using connected mobility (Connected Mobility) are increasingly being developed..I am talking here M.in.on real-time data exchange between intelligent infrastructure and vehicles, using dedicated ITS-G5 radio networks and mobile 5G mobile networks.Such solutions are used M.in.in Great Britain and Austria.
