Breast augmentation with silicone implants is one of the most frequently performed procedures in plastic surgery. A shapely and firm bust adds self-confidence, it is also considered by many people to be an important attribute of femininity, which is why more and more women decide to undergo such surgery. However, the decision to change your appearance with a scalpel brings many challenges. How to avoid stress related to staying in the clinic and convalescence?

The breast augmentation procedure causes many fears in women. Uncertainty related to the course of the operation, fear of anesthesia or concern for the final effect of the surgeon's work are just some of the emotions that accompany patients who decide to have breast implants. These feelings are completely natural, but they must not be allowed to overshadow the joy of the upcoming changes. That is why it is worth preparing for the operation as well as possible and getting to know the medical recommendations related to it.

Pedestrian augmentation - medical consultation

Women dreaming of breast augmentation often come to the doctor's office with a clear vision of the effects they would like to achieve thanks to the surgeon's intervention. Unfortunately, wishes regarding the shape and size of breast implants in many cases turn out to be impossible to fulfill. Silicone inserts should meet the patient's expectations, but for an experienced specialist, the most important thing will be to match them to the specific body structure.

Anatomical implants are usually recommended for filigree people as well as women who struggle with loss of breast firmness. They have a characteristic teardrop shape and allow you to enlarge the bust mainly in its lower part. Round pads, on the other hand, are more symmetrical, thus increasing the volume of the breast in both the lower and upper areas. They provide a more expressive effect of the treatment. During the consultation, it is worth listening carefully to the doctor's instructions, who, thanks to his knowledge and experience, will be able to assess the legitimacy of implanting implants of a specific shape, size and profile.

Breast enlargement surgery - what to bring to the hospital?

Selecting the right implants is a direct introduction to setting the date of the surgery. Not earlier than two weeks before the planned operation, a number of necessary tests should be performed. Complete blood count, electrolytes (sodium and potassium), INR, APTT, prothrombin index, CRP, Hbs antigen and Hcv antibodies are required. It is also necessary to perform breast ultrasound, and in patients over 40 years of age, mammography. It happens that plastic surgeons also order a visit to a specialist who performs a chest x-ray. A set of medical certificates is therefore the first thing that should be in a hospital suitcase.

While preparing for your visit to the plastic surgery clinic, you should also take care of choosing the right wardrobe. Ladies opting for breast augmentation surgery should get a loose, buttoned or zippered pajama top, because overhead tops do not work after this type of surgery. What's more, sometimes even a shirt tailored to the patient's needs turns out to be completely unnecessary. After the implants are placed, the chest is tightly wrapped with bandages, so you do not need to worry about additional clothing. During your stay at the clinic, a comfortable bathrobe is useful. It allows you to feel at ease during trips to the bathroom and rehabilitation "walks" recommended by doctors after the procedure. When preparing clothes for leaving the hospital, the same criteria should be followed. Tight over-the-head clothing should definitely be left at home.

The hospital kit should also contain basic toiletries, such as a toothbrush and toothpaste, face care cosmetics, bubble bath, hairbrush and a towel. Pain occurring after surgery often prevents patients from getting up and going to the toilet in the morning, which is why it is worth packing a hydrosol in a spray to take care of the condition of the skin in a handy beautician. Speaking of appearance, it is worth giving up a manicure before visiting the clinic. Colorful varnishes decorating the nail plate are not welcome in the operating room. This is justified by anesthesia and monitoring of the patient's condition during the procedure. A change in the appearance of nails is the first signal that alerts doctors in the event of abnormalities. Eyelash extensions can also be a source of problems. Some facilities allow the possibility of having them, but it should be remembered that the surgeon operates in sterile conditions, which should not be disturbed by anything, especially synthetic hair accidentally detaching from the eyelid.

How to take care of breasts after surgery?

Patients leaving the plastic surgery clinic should prepare for chest pain, which may persist for several days. Its intensity depends on many factors, which is why each woman can feel it differently. If the ailments make everyday functioning difficult, it is necessary to take appropriate medications.

Removal of dressings and a breast-forming bra usually takes place on the seventh day after the procedure. From now on, you should take care of the aesthetic appearance of scars. Some doctors recommend soothing their swelling with brine baths. Lubricating ointments, which can be started about two weeks after surgery, may also be helpful.

After having breast implants, there are a few important guidelines to follow. Sleeping on the back, wearing a special bra or limiting the movements of the upper limbs are just some of them. Check-ups in the doctor's office allow you to monitor the condition of your breasts on an ongoing basis. After that, there is nothing left but to enjoy the effects of the treatment.
