Prosumers harmed by energy meters | GRAMwZIELONE.pl

For months, we have been contacted by readers suffering from incorrectly billed energy supplied to the grid. Meters supplied by energy companies underestimate the amount of energy supplied by up to 40 percent. The prosumer support system still has more disadvantages than advantages.

The number of prosumers, i.e. recipients who install their own power sources with a view to selling some energy to the grid, is constantly growing. According to Filip Thon, president of Innogy, in 2030 we can draw 12-15 TWh, i.e. even 8.6 percent, from photovoltaics alone on the roofs of houses. current consumption. However, this requires good cooperation with distribution network operators.

In 2016, the possibility of settling accounts with the company to which you are connected was introduced on the basis of the so-called discounts. The prosumer has the right to return all the energy produced to the grid, and then 80% of it. download it back at no cost. This proposal includes beneficiaries of municipal support programs for RES. In order to break even, a photovoltaic lover must look for money not only from electricity, but also from subsidies.

The most profitable for everyone would be for the prosumer to consume everything he produces himself. Then the problem of billing is eliminated, and the network does not have to send electricity back and forth. Usually, however, the production profile does not match the consumption profile. Both parties must then agree on how to calculate the energy sold and the charge per kilowatt hour.

It's not always easy. Many prosumers are connected to a three-phase distribution network, but the energy produced goes to only one phase. This means that if, for example, the kettle is connected to a different phase than the solar panels, then while operating at the same time, the energy company accounts for it as the sale and purchase of energy, from which it takes 20 percent. commission.

Where to look for photovoltaic panels?

Below we present the ranking of the Oferteo.pl website regarding 18,343 companies installing photovoltaic panels, the best in 2020 in individual cities:

There are also more and more three-phase micro-installations, but their accounting also raises doubts. Electricity distributors, when summing up consumption from different circuits, use such a calculation method to pay the prosumer as little as possible.

Can the counter be wrong?

The case described by one of our readers, however, is more suspicious. The owner of a photovoltaic installation with a capacity of approx. 4 kW from Lubuskie, after concluding a contract for the collection and production of electricity with Enea at the end of 2017, noticed that the amount of energy produced indicated by the meter is much lower than the indications of the inverter.

One sunny day, our reader turned off all electricity receivers in the house, and after checking the readings in the evening, it turned out that the meter received only 56 percent. energy supplied by the inverter. Measurement over a long period of time (several hundred days) showed a loss of 41%.

Can the counter be wrong? How can I appeal? Will the government program Energia Plus help? More on this later in the article on the WysokieNapiecie.pl website
