Locked car keys. How to open a car with the keys inside?

A moment of inattention is enough to accidentally lock the keys in the car. How to get to the car when we do not have a spare set? Let's check the effectiveness of the kit for emergency door opening in the car.

It is known for a long time that car electronics likes to play tricks on the owner with time. Users of cars with central locking have even developed a habit of carrying their keys with them to prevent the car from being unexpectedly locked with the keys inside. Sometimes the situation calls for attention to something else, and if we add a fault in the door locking system to it, we may not be able to access our own car in a moment. When we lock the keys in our own yard, it is enough to use a spare set. If it happens outside the home, and the situation looks boring (for example, we locked an animal in the car with the keys, or worse, a child), everyone has the right to get upset.

Experience shows, however, that drivers' concerns are usually greatly exaggerated. Keeping a cool head will allow you to deal with the problem quite efficiently. If we have not "managed" to lock the phone in the car, it is enough to call specialized companies that provide "break-in" services, and the technicians will recover the keys without any damage to the paintwork or the door opening mechanism. Another solution is to contact a local mechanic. Perhaps he will manage to "get" into our car, or recommend someone who could do it (eg a locksmith).

However, there is nothing to prevent you from doing such a seemingly complicated activity yourself. There are various types of emergency opening kits available on the Internet. Skilful use of the components contained in it will allow you to break into your own car in a relatively short time. Of course, hardly any driver can handle this operation the first time - it requires precision and, above all, patience. It is therefore important to keep your nerves in check and carry out the individual activities consistently.

Our editorial office has received one of the emergency car opening kits, costing PLN 230. The whole process is based on lifting the closed door with an inflatable pillow and introducing a wire or rod through the resulting gap, with which we release the door lock and pull the internal handle. The tested set included 10 wires of different lengths and ends. They can be combined with each other, and the flexible formula will allow you to adjust them to the required shape. They also have tips with a loop for opening older door locking systems, the so-called mushrooms.

Below we present how to deal with locked doors using the kit described above.

1. At the very beginning, deflate the air from the pillow attached to the set. We do this because it has to fit between the door frame and the car body, hence it has to be as thin as possible. The air will escape from the cushion when you open the drain valve and press it against an even surface.

2. Using a special wedge (made of a material that does not scratch the paint), open the door to place a pillow between it and the body. Before that, it is worth cleaning contact places from dirt.

3. After inserting the pillow, pump it with a hand pump, gradually tilting the door away from the body. To make your work easier, it is worth buying a second pillow separately (there is one in the set) and placing it in a different place.

4. The resulting gap should not be "abutting". Let's make it with a slight margin: the wire or rod should rotate freely in it, and if we connect several of them, the place of joining will be a little thicker.

5. Now choose the most suitable tool to be used in our car. If it has the so-called mushroom to close the door, just insert the wire with a loop, tighten it on the mushroom and pull it upwards. When the security is placed in a hardly accessible place, you need to use a bar to lift and pull the handle (in the photo).

6. The length of the rod / wire and tips can be adjusted to your needs. With the help of the tool, we pry the handle and, turning the rod, try to open it from the inside. In our experience, this is the most complicated part of the task. In cars with a "mushroom" you no longer have to struggle with the inside handle - we open the door with an element from the outside.

Did the emergency door release kit work?

In our case, it was only possible to open the door after a few attempts and after about 25 minutes. When you get into practice, the operation can be performed much faster. The set is effective and, thanks to the possibility of adjusting the tools, it can be used in many cars. It is worth taking it with you for a longer trip, but remember to take it out of the car and leave it, for example, in a suitcase with clothes - otherwise, together with the keys, we will lock it in the car ... a helpful kit for its emergency opening.
