It's very lucky that no one was hurt.

The collision of a car driven by a drunk driver with a fence looked serious. It is scary to think what would happen if a man caught by the ZDiTM traffic supervision inspector in Szczecin hit pedestrians walking along the sidewalk.

- If he drove into a person, it would be death on the spot - says our reader Marcin Gawlik, who witnessed the event. - This driver was driving from the hospital at ul. Arkońska and at the intersection with ul. Tatrzańska hit the car and then started to run up the street. I was driving from Arkonka and I saw the event. He had his whole front end smashed, but he kept going. Later, it hit two more cars and collided with the fence - describes our reader.

As the witness of the incident tells us, the driver was so drunk that he could not get up.

- I saw the whole thing so I followed him. I turned on the light signal in my police car and sent a message to the Traffic Center about the incident. Of course, the police were notified. When the driver I was following hit the wall of one of the properties, I stopped, and when he opened the door I overpowered him and waited for the services. I don't feel like a hero. It was an impulse and my duty - explains Grzegorz Grzegorzak, an employee of ZDiTM Traffic Supervision.

The Municipal Police Headquarters confirms that the detained man was under the influence of alcohol. Actions are underway to explain the incident.

Police and an ambulance were called to the scene.
