Scammers have a new method. To the viaTOLL system Tolls for roads and motorways. Big changes from October - check what they concern

viaTOLL is an electronic toll collection system operating on national roads in Poland. Importantly, it was expired in September last year. Nevertheless, there are people who fall for scammers who refer to this system. - We should not talk about it at all, and meanwhile some people receive a text message or an e-mail with information that, for example, something needs to be verified - says Patryk Kuniszewicz from Polish Radio Kierowców.

Don't fall for scammers. E-toll replaced viaTOLL

Scammers don't always ask for money. It often happens that in the message we are asked to provide data that is supposed to help in verification or in completing other formalities. In fact, the goal is to steal sensitive information. - Remember, viaTOLL doesn't work. Today we have e-TOLL - reminds Patryk Kuniszewicz and adds that in the case of drivers of passenger cars, i.e. with a total weight below 3.5 tons, this system applies only on two sections of the motorways: Konin - Stryków on the A2 and Wrocław - Sośnica on the A4 .

It's worth remembering that drivers can pay tolls in many ways. One of them is to download an application to your phone, there is also a banking application. People who prefer traditional methods can, however, do it at Orlen or LOTOS stations. What if someone doesn't want to stand in lines? - If we plan such a trip, we can report it and pay for it the day before - explains the guest of "Four Seasons". And this may turn out to be a good idea, because the barriers on both sections are raised, but at the same time everything is monitored by cameras.

Scammers count on our ignorance

So any messages from senders asking for information or transfers should raise our vigilance. The more so that the Ministry of Finance never requests our data, nor does it send links. It is up to us to buy a ticket, traditional or electronic. - The best method in relation to any phishing scams is simply not clicking on any links - points out Patryk Kuniszewicz. And if we have encountered such an attempt and want to warn others, we can send false reports to incident@mf.gov.pl. However, it is safest to use a website where you can find all the information about payments, registration or the system itself.
