Episode speed measurement - what is it?

OPP is a speed control system on a given section of the route, which even more effectively than a speed camera, monitors the speed of drivers who go too fast.It does not take a single photo, but it measures the travel time on the entire designated episode.If the speed is exceeded, then the driver will receive a ticket.

Until recently, it was used only on highways.Today it can be found on various types of roads.Many drivers who are unable to drive OPP often use methods such as forced stop, sudden braking, and even slowly overcoming the last kilometers.

New segmental speed measurement on S8

A section speed measurement has just appeared on the popular route of the Warsaw fragment of the S8.The inspections are carried out on between ul..Łabiszyńska in Warsaw, and ul..Szpitalna in Marki, as well as between the Warszawa West junction and the town of Blizne Łaszczyński.

OPP works in two directions, on all threads of the S8 route.The current speed limit is 120 km/h for passenger cars and 80 km/h for trucks.

30 cameras have been installed, which in total monitor the 14-kilometer section of the S8 route.The basis of the control is the time of entry and departure from the controlled section.The system automatically determines the average speed of the vehicle.The system will also include data such as assignment of speed exceeding to a given vehicle, place, date, measurement time, length of the section covered by the measurement, as well as the maximum speed limit.High -quality photos will be taken in both daytime and night.

The GITD automatic traffic supervision center is not idle.There are plans for another OPP in as many as 39 locations.They were selected on the basis of a road safety analysis, prepared by the Motor Transport Institute.OPP devices will control all road categories, including selected sections of the A1, A2 and A4 motorways.

The basic list of selected locations contains 39 road sections in 13 provinces.Most of them are to appear in the Łódź (5) and Podkarpackie Voivodships, but also in Lubuskie, Mazowieckie and Silesia (4), in Kuyavian-Pomeranian and Lower Silesia (3).After 2 OPP are to be found in Greater Poland, in the Lublin region and in the West Pomeranian and Pomeranian Voivodeship, and 1 device in the Opole region.More accurate locations are:

Currently, Canard has 30 OPP at his disposal, which in the first 10 months of its activity registered nearly 600 thousand.cases of exceeding the speed limit by drivers.

If there is no possibility in the above locations of the equipment installation, e.g..: technical for assembly OPP, then Canard plans to use a reserve list of places where they can be found.

The final assessment of the possibilities of mounting segmental speed measurements will be carried out after selecting the contractor, who will individually conduct the analysis taking into account the most important technical conditions.
