Pegasus, or how President Kaczyński made idiots from the prime minister, two ministers and a PiS spokesperson

After disclosing that special services under PiS rule underwent politically uncomfortable people - prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek, lawyer Roman Giertych and before all politics after Krzysztof Brejza at a time when he managed the election campaign to the Sejm - at the PiS headquarters in Nowogrodzka there was no end.Party specialists in image and propaganda quickly stuck the appropriate "message of the day", ordering PiS politicians to underestimate the matter and undermine the credibility of information about Pegasus. They followed the recommendations.

Where the Law and Justice politician or one of his satellites did not appear, there we heard a set of more or less successful jokes about the surveillance of critical people against the authorities, and all with one key message: reports of Pegasus are frivolous, untrue and misleading public opinion.Jarosław Kaczyński himself preventively stated that he did not know anything about the case, but he would try to find out.

In retrospect, it looks as if the leader of the power camp set a perfidious trap on which he is more zealous.

Thus, Kaczyński put up to laughing atPrime Minister of Mateusz Morawiecki, Minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziobra, Deputy Minister of Justice Michał Wosia and Deputy Virector of the party Radosław Fogel. They all turned out to be either extremely uninformed people or consciously misleading public opinion.

Kaczyński about Pegasus: it would be bad if he wasn't there

Jarosław Kaczyński in "Networks" first gives a mini lecture on digitization as a newly baked expert on new technologies:

"Pegasus is a program for which services to fight crime and corruption in many countries reach. Its creation and use is the result of technological change, the development of encrypted messengers, which cannot be read using old monitoring systems, "explains the head of PiS to people who are just taking their first steps in the subject.

And then burns:

And because, as we know, in Poland PiS cannot be bad, the opposite, it must be very good, it can be concluded that our services (let us remind you that the Law and Justice minister Mariusz Kamiński) have such a system and willingly use it.

And so that there would be no doubt, the fact of having Pegasus by the services is announced by journalists, and Kaczyński confirms this:

"Networks": "Why was the purchase of Pegasus financed from the Justice Fund?"

Kaczyński: "This is a technical matter, without much importance.Public money was spent on an important public purpose, related to the fight against crime, protection of citizens. "

Like a winged horse, Ziobra played on a fogla console

The last issue in Kaczyński's interview concerns the discovery of "Gazeta Wyborcza", which revealed that the Pegasus system was purchased in 2017 from the money of the Justice Fund, which is intended to help victims of crime. And that Personally, the purchase was run by Michał Woś responsible for the fund. The publication, whose truth was confirmed by Kaczyński today, was published on January 3, 2022. and was confirmed by the politicians of the power camp as fake news, lie, disinformation and compromise of the media.

Woś himself reacted this way:

"It's #pegasus that I bought 🙂 In the 90s, so much is worth the Wyborcza capshable," he wrote on Twitter and posted a photo of a popular game console.

In a similar tone he hit the same day in a conversation with Radio Zet, the vice -party of the Radosław Fogiel party:

Minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziobro was late with his jokes, but it must be admitted that he devoted this time to inventing the original sketch so as not to duplicate the jokes of his colleagues:

"Mr. Roman Giertych raised the problem of Pegasus in his statements.(...) I wonder what the reason is.Maybe it's about a horse who has wings and summer? "- said Ziobro at a press conference.

And then the whole matter was acknowledged by a newly clerical: "Each Democratic State has not only the right, but also the obligation to have such systems, although they would not be called, which guarantee that people who can commit crimes will be able to be through the competent servicesCountries subjected to operational control when the court manages this, in accordance with the procedures provided for by Polish legislation in this respect. On December 28, 2021, more carefully about Pegasus - and specifically about the surveillance of this system of Krzysztof Brejza - said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, denying that there was surveillance:

"This is a typical way of acting some media that they create a false fact, then someone else quotes this false fact, citing this source, and suddenly everyone assumes that this was reality.Well, there was no such reality, "said the head of government.

However, he let him know that he may not be informed sufficiently, emphasizing that there is no knowledge about the case.He also suggested that maybe Brejza was under surveillance of Pegasus, not a service supervised by PiS, but someone else completely: "Even if any irregularities came, there are many special services in the world and we can't based on what we know from one information agencyconclude that such and not other people fell victim to Polish services. "

However, even such a cautious statement did not save the prime minister from compromise.

Because the PiS president de facto confirmed the surveillance of Krzysztof Brejza Pegasus:

"No Pegasus, no services, no secret information obtained in the election campaign in 2019 in 2019.They lost because they lost, they should not look for such excuses today. All these stories of Mr. Brejza are empty, nothing like that happened.

So surveillance took place, it was conducted during the election campaign, but with the election she had nothing to do.Oh, accident and dates.

How was it with Pegasus in Poland

The Citizen Lab research facility operating at the University of Toronto, dealing with security and compliance with civil rights on the web, after analyzing appropriate devices, confirmed the fact of using advanced surveillance software

The first two people from Poland, who were under surveillance with the help of the Pegasus program and whose names we met, are a lawyer representing opposition politicians in the trials of Roman Giertych and prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek, who dared to run the investigation discontinued by his superiors on the same day on "envelope elections"- As we have already informed in OKO.press in several materials.

On December 23, the Associated Press announced the next discovery of Citizen Lab regarding the use of Pegasus in Poland. This time, an important opposition politician - Krzysztof Brejza turned out to be a victim of surveillance.

On January 6, Amnesty International informed that regardless of the study, Citizen Lab confirmed the repeated use of Pegasus in relation to Krzysztof Brejza in 2019.

Witold Głowacki wrote about what Pegasus is about what Pegasus is.This is surveillance software that the Israeli company NSO Group has created for use for intelligence and counterintelligence purposes, also very useful in combating terrorism, international crime or e.g. drug cartels.

With the help of Pegasus, you can break into the smartphone of the surveillance person and download almost any data from it.Pegasus also allows for "classic" eavesdropping on telephone conversations and to use a camera and microphone of the device to surveillance a tracked person in real time.Pegasus can also capture data entered on the device keyboard.

With its help, you can also remotely place selected content, photos or files on the under surveillance smartphone.

Pegasus is an objectively expensive tool.In 2019, journalists "Czar and Biały" TVN determined that the total cost of purchasing access to the Pegasus system by the Polish Central Anti -Corruption Bureau was not less than PLN 34 million.

But this is not the end.Approx.100 thousandPLN costs a single license that allows you to track only one person with the help of Pegasus. This is still not the end, because the software owner - the NSO Group company also charged a separate fee for each burglary of this followed person. We do not know its exact height.

Even from the point of view of very wealthy countries and their services, the use of Pegasus software - or similar solutions to other companies - is therefore economical only in the case of the need to surveillance people suspected of committing really serious crimes.

This tool created - at least theoretically - for advanced intelligence activities, thwarting terrorist attacks or capturing arms or cocaine transports.
