Which home surveillance camera to choose? Thanks to IP (internet) cameras, each of us can monitor our home and at the same time track the image from the camera using a smartphone or computer. Such solutions for homes or small offices are not particularly expensive, although the more advanced the device (e.g. offering more accessories or recording the image in higher resolution), the more it will cost us.

All you need is an inexpensive device with basic functionality. The prices of home monitoring cameras have dropped to very acceptable levels, among others thanks to cheap products from companies such as Xiaomi.
Home monitoring - which camera to choose?
IP cameras can enable wired or wireless connection to the Internet. It is worth paying attention to such functionalities as the night recording function (infrared LEDs), the motion detection system (the camera will start recording only when motion is detected and send you a notification, e.g. to your smartphone or e-mail), or the ability to save videos and photos on an SD card . An important element of the IP camera is the software, because it largely determines the functionality of a given solution.
In the case of home monitoring, ease of installation is also important, because not everyone is a network specialist and often we just want to connect the device, pair it with a smartphone application and not bother with technical details. Most home monitoring devices will work indoors, so in this case we will not need cameras equipped with additional waterproofing (protection against rain), which increases their price.
Xiaomi Mi Home Security Camera Basic 1080p is an inexpensive IP Camera for Basic (Basic) applications. A 130-degree lens, an infrared filter and motion detection were used here. By adding the possibility of recording in Full HD (and 20 frames per second), two-way voice communication and a micro SD port, we get a cheap device that will fully satisfy many users. The camera works with the Xiaomi Home application.

Xiaomi Mi Home Security Camera 360 ° 1080p is a more advanced design from the Xiaomi stable, which, as the name suggests, allows you to adjust the recording angle and get a panoramic view (360 degrees horizontally and 115 degrees vertically). Of course, we will find here all the necessary functions, such as motion detection or real-time monitoring using the Xiaomi Home application. The webcam can be mounted on the wall or ceiling.

If you are targeting inexpensive IP cameras from such a well-known manufacturer as TP-Link, then the Tapo C200 model is worth paying attention to. It offers, among other things, Full HD resolution and the possibility of live 360-degree video streaming. The number of frames per second is limited to 15, but it is enough for apartment monitoring. There is a place for a night mode, a motion sensor, two-way audio transmission, or a sound and light alarm that can scare off uninvited guests.
