Frozen windows - everything you need to know

Icy and frosted windows are the first sign that winter is just around the corner. This is also the moment when many drivers realize that in the following months they will have to leave the house a few minutes earlier to remove the ice from the glass in a cold parking lot. Choosing a scraper should be easy. It is important that the edges intended for scraping are perfectly smooth and do not show any signs of mechanical damage, because any unevenness can cause dirt particles to scratch the glass. If you are concerned about the formation of scratches, it is worth using a defroster that will dissolve the hardest layer of frost that cannot be removed in a delicate way. Nowadays, many of us have a disinfectant at hand, which will be a good replacement, if we do not have a professional preparation.

Frozen door - better not to struggle

This problem is especially common when the temperature drops sharply after evening rainfall. Freezing the door is a situation in which we must exercise caution. When trying to open the door, avoid using excessive force - it may damage the seal or the handle. In the event that we cannot get in, we should check the other doors in the vehicle and enter the car from the other side, even the trunk, and then turn on the heating. An effective alternative to home methods such as a dryer or hot water is the use of the above-mentioned windscreen de-icer. Only beforehand, let's check whether the preparation will not react with the rubber and paint of the vehicle. Here, too, it is worth acting prophylactically and protecting rubber seals for rubber maintenance. Thanks to them, the elements will maintain adequate flexibility, and will stop making noise, creaking and crackling when closing and opening the door.

Frosty nights - diesels don't like them

Cars equipped with diesel engines are much more sensitive to low temperatures than their petrol counterparts. It is not just a question of the battery. It is also about the behavior of diesel fuel, which becomes cloudy and freezes at negative temperatures. This is why gas stations for colder months have diesel fuel prepared for winter conditions. However, it may happen that the temperature is so low that the diesel fuel changes its properties and prevents the car from being driven.
