Peugeot 508 RXH Hybrid with diesel with a capacity of 200 HP 2013 - expensive, but economical and pleasant to use

Peugeot 508 RXH, i.e. a hybrid combination of diesel and hybrid was already tested by my editorial colleague who visited 508 last year the country as attractive as the unknown.He went to Albania and returned delighted with both the Balkan state and the car.However, because the hybrid in today's automotive industry is inseparably connected with a set of batteries stuffed somewhere inside, and Poles - as usual - are afraid of new things, I decided to check how the habitat of modern technology would write in winter.

I picked up the 508 RXH at the threshold of the calendar spring, but at that time winter decided to remember what perfectly suited to my expectations, because I wanted to check if Peugeot would reject the batteries from the comments on the frost and will not focus only on the diesel drive.The temperature in my region dropped to several degrees below zero during this period, approximately to -15 ° C, although in other regions of the country there were drops exceeding even -25 ° C at that time.This time, however, I was neither in Podlasie nor in any mountains, so the 508 batteries had to face relatively low temperature drops.And I did not observe problems, and even in the statistics from the use of hybrid drive it turned out that it worked to a large extent - during the entire test it was at 25%.This means that the system often used either a completely electric drive, or was supported by an electric motor, saving diesel and the environment, because the vehicle was moving in zero -emission mode.

Well - is it worth buying a hybrid?The price of such a car is quite high, but do not think that you only pay for this technology, and you still have to pay extra for a lot of other things.No - these are not other brands!Peugeot 508 RXH is very richly equipped as standard.Unfortunately, this means the need to sneak at least 161.PLN 500, which can be terrified at first, but remember what we get: a car with two engines, spacious, economical, in a station wagon, with a total power of 200 km.What can you compare RXH with?Can you compare it with anything?I announced that I would not do it, but ...

... but I decided to try, at least in price and basic dimensions.I looked for rivals from the D segment in the station wagon, with diesel, if possible in pro-ecological versions, with power of 200 hp and with four-wheel drive and with an automatic, because we have this type of system in fact in 508 RXH.There were no many of these cars, and I did not want to enter the premium brands, because they are more expensive by nature.

And I found:

I chose Insignia in the first possible version offering the expected drive team.After adding a few packages (business, infinity navi, driver) and metallized varnish, the price increased to level 166.800 PLN

In the case of Passat, I also chose some add -ons so that the configuration resembles a somewhat tested version of Peugeot 508 RXH and the price increases to 178.550 PLN, with a preferably for Volkswagen I tried to choose packages, some of which had promotional prices.And the tested Peugeot Warta was price list 172.PLN 250.

I also tried to configure Škoda Superb 4 × 4 with a 170-horsepower diesel and automatic transmission, but such a model does not occur.It can be done with other engines, but not with this unit, so I skipped this model in the above ranking.

Compared to these three rivals (although Subaru can undoubtedly be considered a premium brand) Peugeot 508 RXH does not look so expensive.Let's take a look at the quality of this price - how many car do we get for your money?

So, as you can see, Peugeot 508 RXH is longer than the two rivals presented, it also has a much larger wheelbase than all three competitors, and over the passat it also towers with a clearance, which - I admit honestly - until it surprised me a bit.Instead, a hybrid drive battery assembly clearly limits the luggage space - 400 liters according to the VDA standard, it is a result worthy of a compact car, but there are also the advantages of such a power team, which I will mention further.And I do not mean low combustion and ecology at all!

Peugeot 508 is a car selling well in our country.I see these cars quite often.However, I cannot say this about a hybrid variety - this is a car for a special customer who can afford to release over 160.000 PLN.But I'll tell you - it's worth it!If someone can stand, I highly recommend it.And I don't mean all this technology, but just about ... appearance.Rxh looks great.Racially.This is a car for a real guy.With a few days of stubble on his face, smelling of Code Armani, a guy with a good watch on a jet, a man who looks great both in jagged jeans and a suit from Ermenegildo Zegna.Necessarily in its short pants, because the Peugeot RXH can also be taken into the mud or on the grass, and it would be a shame to get the legs.

What captivates me in Peugeot 508 RXH?

Masculinity can be demonstrated by the thresholds and the wheel arches that give the silhouette power, strength, and but even.But I am delighted with daytime running lights.Of course, made in LED technology, but in a style unheard of anywhere else - three vertical lines on each side of the front of the body - reminiscent.Either way - an element associated with strength, energy, power, fight ...

With all this, RXH cannot be denied elegance.Sports elegance, I would even say, with the design is extremely coherent, and the wheel arches and the thresholds do not.The whole can definitely be liked and the car looks like a magnificent and solid vehicle.How solid, of course, it will show the future, but I would not be afraid of the condition of this car in a few years or even a dozen or so.

Why?In my opinion, the performance of the 508 is really good.The materials used to finish it, especially in the RXH version, are of very good quality by nature, and everything was composed in a very elegant way.You can only complain about the lack of caches on the central console - except for the central armrest hiding the storage (and in it an additional lighter socket and USB port; subsequent lighter sockets/12 V can be found at the end of the central tunnel between the vents and in the luggage space) - basically there is nowhere to putphone, because I don't like to hold such devices in the door storage compartments.Instead, two handles for mugs/cans with drinks, but for example one with a large shake from one of the popular "fastfo pad" in these handles does not fit.I checked, although I do not personally use such handles - on Polish uneven roads, or during sudden braking there is always a risk of splashing part of the contents of the mug/can for the central console, and this does not have to foretell its elements well.

Well - the central console ... it is quite rich, but not overloaded with controls, and all of them are grouped in logical sets.Under the navigation screen, two buttons - emergency lights and a central locking are placed with the central air vents -.Below is the CD reader gap, under which you will find keys for controlling the audio set enriched with a button that allows you to change what the display is presented above.In an even lower group you will find air conditioning control elements (two front zones and a two rear zone switch) with a display presenting the selected temperature for each of these two zones.All described legibly on buttons with optimal dimensions.At the base of the central console, a closed ashtray was located with a lighter.

On the middle tunnel you will find a tiny, shapely gearbox lever, an element in itself extremely designer.I really like it very much.To the right of this lever, an indicator with firing diodes has been located at the letters meaning the mode of the gearbox (R - reverse, N - neutral/parking, and - automation, M - manual mode), and a little more backward - round switch of the hybrid4 system with fourWork modes (Auto, Sport, 4WD, ZEV).In the middle of the central tunnel, we have another set of switches, which are used - very conveniently - navigation, audio system, or phone paired with the system.Because the sides you will even find light automation.Behind this panel, immediately in front of the armrest, there were still potentiometers with adjusting the heating of the front seats, which works quickly and effectively.

The mentioned automation of the lights works really well.After turning on this system, which signals the diode on the activation button, the car changes the lights from the road to passing and vice versa, if the sensors recognize that it can be done.It works great, does not stupid on road markings (for example on flashing signs with a sharp bend) and is a rather useful gadget.Yes, you can do without it, but since it is equipped ... There is no obligation to use this system.

When it comes to automation, of course not everything.PEUGEOT 508 RXH has been equipped with automatic lights (including those already mentioned daytime running lamps) and automatic wipers, automated gearbox, automatically diminishing interior mirror, or automatic volume control of the audio system depending on the speed.A kind of automation is also a camper -free access (all you need is a key in your pocket and you can open the car by grabbing any handle) and an analogous engine starting.The car also has an electrically opened and closed trunk lid.

In general, the electronic and electrical equipment of the car is very rich.There was also a tile (head-up) on the pit.Use this navigation reasonably, because as in the best road mode and the distance/time works great, it can suggest you when choosing the shortest road, for example.jump from the viaduct to the road leading below - it happened to me on the so -called.Radom's eastern beltway, for example.I mean-a suggestion happened to me, not the jump, to regret as some ;-)

Electrics glass in all doors with full sequence (automation), electrically set mirrors, electrically set and heated front seats with electric lumbar support adjustment, electrically sliding glass roof blind, automatic four -zone air conditioning, front and rear parking sensors with sound signaling and presentation on the screen- There is a lot of it in RXH and the person hated this type of car must take a moment to read the car's equipment.And someone who buys RXH will quickly notice what his money went to ;-)

I mentioned electrically adjustable, heated and folding external mirrors.Exactly - here is a small problem.The left mirror, i.e. on the driver's side, has a slightly too small adjustment range, especially when it comes to the left deviation.With a slightly over 180 cm tall, I rarely move the car seat as much as possible, because I don't have such a need.It was similar here, but with the left mirror I came to his maximum, which means that people who are up to me further pushing the driver's seat may have trouble setting up the right mirror.Well, unless someone likes to see the side of the car in it.I always have the side mirrors, the width was set firmly, which allows me to eliminate the so -called.dead field.In 508 RXH I came to the maximum capacity of the car in this regard, at least in terms of the mirror on the driver's side.

One more problem is associated with visibility.Quite wide bars, inclined at a strong angle, they limit the field of view a bit, so you have to be careful especially in city traffic, while twisting.This may not be a great screen, but a bit, especially the leftist, the visibility limits.

A good element of equipment is the previously mentioned head-up display.It allows you to constantly observe what is happening in front of the car and at the same time look at the speed at which the car is moving.You don't have to look at the speedometer, thus taking your eyes off the road situation, which significantly improves safety.However, it is worth setting a tilt of the tile well so that its observation makes sense.Differently than in the Peugeot 3008, the tile control buttons are not on the center console, but they were hidden on the lowered console on the left side of the dashboard.In fact, it is not very comfortable at first glance, because to set the head-up display, you need to bend, tear your back from the seat back, correct the setting, take the right position for driving, check, and so to effect.It can irritate, and it is certainly not a model of ergonomics.On the other hand, it forces you to set the plate at a stop, which improves safety.And yet this is not performed every time you move, unless the car is driven by many drivers who change often.Although personally, I would not like to share this car with anyone ;-) Because I really liked it.

On the same panel as HUD control, ESP switches, parking sensors and pro-ecological driving were also located.Next to it, there was also a place for a key if someone does not want to store it in your pocket.

The test copy had a semi -leaky upholstery and a leather -covered steering wheel and a middle armrest, which on the one hand looked good, and on the other, it allowed to strengthen the most exposed to the destruction of the elements of the seats.On the central console there is a high -gloss finish (this is usually called piano varnish), which was repeated on the internal door handles, and the interior was enlivened by decorative strips in the color of the body color, but this color goes smoothly to black, which looks noble and interesting.There were also chrome elements.The whole presents itself, it does not overwhelm with a multitude of decorations, but also does not allow to bore to death ;-) Economical LED lights care for interior lighting.

There is no shortage of lights outside.I have already mentioned about jewelry in the form of LED lamps for daytime running lamps, but they are complemented by Biksenon lamps and diode direction indicators placed in one typical-shaped shade-shapedfog lamps.They just don't need it.At the back, complex headlights may not resemble the typical Peugeot shades at first glance, but after the illusion disappears and come to mind the previous, often legendary models.As proof-one of the photos below ;-)

In the external mirrors, a place was found not only for direction indicators, but also - on the bottom of the mirror housings - lamps illuminating the ground, which avoids slipping in, for example, mud.What can be easy to get about when the driver wants to get off the beaten trails and check the drive to both axles.

It is difficult to accuse anything of the spaciousness of the interior.Peugeot 508 (also RXH) plays in the D segment and is one of the large representatives of this class of cars, with one of the largest axis in the segment segment.This can be clearly seen by the interior dimensions (the table among the photos below will reveal the details to you, although it does not include the width of the interior at the front at the height of the seats due to the high middle tunnel).Even above the heads, despite the use of a glass roof along with an electric roller blind, there is a lot of space.The car also impresses the interior width and the longitudinal leg place.As a result, 508 is an excellent family car, although in the form of RXH, due to the price, few families can afford it.Anyway, this version has ambivalent features for families - it allows you to enjoy low fuel consumption, and thus minimizes maintenance costs, but at the same time does not allow you to take too much luggage with it.The hybrid variety trunk holds only 400 liters (according to VDA), and such a result is easily obtained by some compact cars.

The trunk has regular shapes and width of 110 cm.Along with its length (100 cm at the floor) and depth (41 cm to the roller blind), a limited battery unit and an electric motor located on the rear axle, the trunk can be packaged quite specifically, but not too high.If you decide to remove the blind and charging "to the roof", you will not gain a lot-the height grows by 66-71 cm (it is limited by the glass roof roller blind), and besides, you will give up visibility through the rear window..So if you want to use the advantages of hybrid drive, then you need to give up some of the functionality of the trunk.

Exactly - what are the benefits of hybrid?Compared to the Peugeot 508 SW GT, which I had the pleasure to test nearly two years ago, and I posted a record of impressions from these rides in mid -June 2011, are considerable.Yes - the engine 2 worked there.2 HDI, and here two -liter, but the maximum power available in both cars is very similar - 204 HP vs 200 HP.There was an automatic transmission, heretatized here.That car was a bit lighter (own weight 508 RXH, that's 1.770 kg).And on average 7.7 l/100 km burned in our test.Fact - dynamic travel was not lacking at the time, but it was also not like I beat the whole test with gas pressed into the floor.In the case of 508 RXH, I also drove quite sharply, and I still got to the level of a maximum of 6.3 l/100 km, and this combustion from over 850 kilometers covered by this car.What's more - even after dynamic driving express road and then a country (average speed of up to 88 km/h) at a total distance of OK.100 km, average fuel consumption dropped to 5.9 l/100 km!It was surprising because the hybrid gives the most savings in city traffic.

As a result, PEUGEOT 508 RXH burned on average about 1.5 liters of diesel less than Peugeot 508 SW GT.Savings of 20%is quite a lot, but it is worth noting that the slightly equipped version of this second car means an expense of 155.000 PLN, czyli o około 17.000 PLN mniej, niż testowana odmiana RXH (również po lekkim doposażeniu).We will feel the difference in the price only after defeating some 200.000 km, and this puts a hybrid in a lost position.It is different in countries where there are tax incentives or functional to use pro -ecological cars.In Poland, only a few local governments decided on the latter, although they really don't give real savings to users of such cars, but only allow themselves.move in a few cities centers, although I do not know if it also applies to hybrids.Either way, Poland is not a country economically friendly to this type of solutions and the purchase of a hybrid, it is unfortunately more a fad than a common sense calculation.

At one time my friend who once bought a brand new Peugeot 307 SW 2.0 HDI with a particulate filter (FAP), he complained that he had not only had to pay extra for this solution relative to the "ordinary" diesel, but after his "consumption" he was waiting for expenses related to the replacement of this element, and he could not countfor no relief related to the use of a "cleaner" car.And he is an entrepreneur, for earlier years professionally associated with the tax apparatus, so who knows all tax regulations.Unfortunately, there is no "gap" related to the use of a car in Poland in Poland somehow, and others have happened ...

Okay - let's go back to Peugeot 508 RXH.How does this car drive?As I mentioned, it weighs 1.770 kg, and this is really quite a lot - after packing my wife, daughters, as well as myself, I somewhat exceeded the mass of two tons, taking into account fuel in the tank.Despite this, the car did not seem sluggish at any time.Even with five adults on board he drove as if only a light driver was leading him.These are the advantages of a diesel motor and an electric motor working with it - high torque and high power do nothing from two tons of mass, which they are to drive.And it would probably be even better if it wasn't for the moments of hesitation of the gearbox when you want to accelerate hard.It is an element that somewhat spoils the fun during really dynamic driving, but simply the car has been tuned more in terms of an economical driving than sharp.But nothing is lost - when you switch the hybrid4 knob to the sport position, the system will react differently to commands and driving will actually become a bit more sporty.It's just that the gears will be changed at a higher speed, and then not everyone will suit the engine sound.But while waiting for a slightly sporting experience, however, this should not irritate the ears.Oh, who likes.

The suspension of the Peugeot 508 RXH suppresses unevenness very well, and at the same time works quietly.Yes, we do not lack holes after winter, but with their "choosing" the hybrid hinge is doing really well.And note that the tires of the tested copy were not focused on comfort - Pirelli Sottozero slippers in size 245/45r18 would rather suggest looking for smooth surfaces.However, because I had to a large extent bad roads, I had the opportunity to convince myself that the engineers from the suspension put on work and provided as much comfort as they could, without giving up the certainty.What's more - thanks to a massive weight other than in the ordinary SW (I repeat: batteries and an electric motor around the rear axle), 508 Rxh drives extremely neutral, it is very happy to bend and safely comes out and safely comes out of them at really good speeds.It's a car driving like a rail.And yet the electric unit can join the operation when the system decides that it has problems with adhesion and provide all wheels!As a result, we have a car with very good traction thanks to an additional drive and a great mass breakdown.No wonder that ESP rarely enters action, and if you decide on it, its corrections are delicate and almost imperceptible.On the other hand, on the covered glazed snow of the parking lot, in which I took a few photos of the lower ones, ASR said, although I also saw a flashing lamp more than I felt his action.It's good, I like discrete support for electronics, not its brutal intervention.Hybrid Peugeot works as I like and I admit - I really liked this car!

This car, due to its non -standard, after all, however, requires special treatment.First of all, it is worth paying attention to the issue of starting the car at negative temperatures.This was described in the manual, but who reads the instructions, especially before leaving the living room?;-) So let's remember that dog hybrids are based on diesel engines, and they need heat candles, which usually takes a while at negative temperatures.Standard engine firing, although possible, is not the happiest idea.In this situation, it should be - before pressing the brake and the Start/Stop button - press this button without touching the brake.Then the system "comes to life", heats the candles and allows you to carry out a normal engine start procedure.This is how this problem is not real with several degrees, but with a dozen or so degrees below zero it is definitely worth going according to the instructions.

It is difficult for the managerial system to accuse the lack of precision - it works well, the power steering is, in my opinion, selected properly, you feel that you are driving a large car, but you do not have to wrestle with it.It is also worth emphasizing that despite the large wheelbase (I remind you: 2.815 mm) Peugeot 508 RXH is an extremely feedback vehicle.Subjectively, it is better in this category than even a crossover 3008!Hybrid lion maneuvering is very pleasant, you don't have to shoot the steering wheel to turn back even in a tight street, so the car will also cope well in crowded cities.

With 3008, PEUGEOT 508, however, has something in common and I am not entirely convinced that this is a good solution.It's about the storage room in the armrest (I have already mentioned it earlier).It means good that he is, but it's a pity that it opens in such a way :-( Simply convenient access to the interior of this cache has only the driver, because the storage space opens "to the passenger".This is not a very sensible solution, I think, although it certainly does not disqualify the car ;-) By the way, it is a pity that there was no thought of closing mechanism copied from reworked windows.Ba - here it could be carried out even easier by using two independent locks depending on how you want to open the storage.Instead, the compartment cover itself, covered with leather, moves forward and backwards, so you can adjust the armrest to your expectations, and this should be praised.

The front seats also deserve praise - for the possibility of extending their seats.Recently, in this respect, French cars are not avant -garde, but it's good that at least in some models you can extend this seat.

The audio system of the well -known audiophile company JBL was installed in the test copy.The game is very decent, though-as I emphasized many times-I'm not a big fan of Car-Audio, so I don't expect miracles in the car.The set was equipped with 10 speakers, including a subwoofer, and of course in an amplifier with a power of up to 500 W.It is worth home, because it costs only 1.PLN 900, which is a practically negligible fraction of the final price of the car.Of course, it is a pity to mention the system control from the steering wheel, because it is obvious ;-) Anyway, many other equipment can also be controlled by using the switches on the steering wheel.You will also find cruise control or speed limiter among them.

And one more thing that looks interesting and brought me even Bugatti Veyrona.In Peugeot 508 RXH you will not find a classic tachometer.In its place, the power use indicator appeared.It was enriched with two fields: ECO and Charge, i.e. an economic driving indicator and a hybrid system charging signaling device.Thanks to this, you can easily learn to drive the car, and at the same time you can see what percentage of the car's power is currently used, and how much you still have in the reserve.I must admit that the tip of this clock works very dynamically, it can climb quite quickly, but also fall even faster.

So how can we evaluate the 5xx hybrid Peugeot series?In my opinion it is a really interesting car.Impressive spaciousness, comfort, equipment and combustion.Nice in terms of driving and traveling.Allowing both relaxing and dynamic driving, and in any case without exaggerating the owner's pocket.Pampering gadgets.And with all this great -looking and suitable for many applications.Definitely worth familiarizing him with him when you look for a car of this class and you have at your disposal from 150.000 PLN wzwyż.The undoubted advantage is also the fact that on the street you will stand out discreetly from the gray mass of other vehicles, and someone who looks at you riding RXH will think that you not only have money, but you can also spend it to stand out, but without ostert.That you have a good but not flashy taste.That having such a car you know perfectly well what the words "style and elegance" mean ...
