Windows to the first front

According to police statistics, many home break-ins occur through windows. When living on the ground floor or on the top floor of a block, it is worth paying special attention to the quality of the windows, because although the anti-burglary ones do not protect against robbers in 100%, they can make their life much more difficult. The longer a thief has to work to enter the apartment, the better for the owner, because the chance that someone will notice the robber or the robber will forgive and run away increases.

Doors - the system is only as strong as its weakest element

The door is also an important element of protection against thieves. They should have a technical approval and a certificate indicating the level of safety, it is important that they have both these documents at the same time. However, it is worth remembering that the door is a whole system and it must be strong as a whole. In the set, you need to pay attention to the quality of the frame, hinges, lock, cylinder and keys. There are doors with several classes of burglary resistance available on the market, in Poland they are classes from A to C, where C is the highest class. In addition, apart from the purchase, assembly is also important - the frames should be firmly anchored in the wall, otherwise it will be easy to force the whole thing through. ADVERTISEMENT Even the best anti-burglary lock will do nothing if it is set in a poor door, which can be broken with a stronger push. A good security door is not only a physical protection against burglars, but also a real chance for discounts when buying an insurance policy. Additionally, owners of good doors do not need to install an additional lock to insure the apartment, and it is also worth remembering that in the case of front doors, more is not better. One multi-point certified lock will work more effectively than three or four of average quality. This is because additional locks can weaken the structure of the entire door, and in fact do not provide practically any protection.

Electronic guard

Along with the development of technology, alarm systems are becoming cheaper and more and more often found in Polish apartments. The simplest monitoring system can be constructed on your own, and for a few thousand zlotys, we will install a system with several cameras (including infrared and motion sensors) with online viewing. Coupling such monitoring with an alarm notifying a security company gives the best effect.

The neighbor's best protection

The most effective method of reducing the risk of being robbed is good relations with your neighbors. It's good to have people you can trust and rely on. Such a neighbor will surely attract attention when a stranger tampers with the castle or the windows. It is also worth that, during a holiday trip, someone pulls out leaflets from the door and empties the mailbox. This will be a clear sign that someone is looking after the apartment, which may scare away a potential thief, or you can pretend to be in the house, it is enough for a neighbor to sometimes turn on the lights or open the windows. The same function is performed by programmable light switches, they can be programmed for a specific activity, and sometimes even turned on and off remotely.

Reason above all

In all this, however, let's remember one thing: common sense. No alarm system will work effectively if the PIN for disarming it is stuck at the front door, and no security door will be effective if the thief finds the key under the wiper. It is also worth remembering about the insurance policy. Its purpose is to let us sleep peacefully and, in the event of an unfortunate event, to compensate for it. If necessary, it will also be useful to check electronic equipment (phones, tablets, cameras, audio, etc.). Photographing everything and writing down serial numbers can help with the search, and avoid tempting fate. Flaunting property held in an apartment will tempt potential robbers. It is not worth keeping a lot of cash or jewelry at home. Most burglars look for small but high-value items. It is rare to take precious furniture out of the apartment (although such cases also happen), most often cash, jewelry and small electronics are lost. Taking furniture or RTV-household appliances out of the apartment is a greater risk for thieves, because it is more visible to the neighbors. The best way to store small but valuable items is to keep them outside the home (e.g. in a bank locker), but a safe will also work well, as it protects not only against theft, but also flooding and fire, and you can keep the most important documents in it.
