How do you open the fuel filler in an emergency? It's not that hard!

When visiting a gas station, it is possible that the fuel filler door will not open. Find out what to do in such a situation.

Refueling (in the case of electric cars - charging) is one of the simplest activities related to car maintenance. However, even this seemingly easy operation can damage the driver's nerves in a situation where opening the fuel filler flap (or the charging socket) proves to be impossible. Such an unpleasant surprise can await us, especially in winter, when the central locking actuator freezes, and sometimes even without frost, it can block. In this case, it is better not to try forceful solutions that can damage the mechanism and use one simple trick instead.

In order to open the filler flap in an emergency, we have to look into the trunk of our car, where a special lever or cable is usually hidden. Of course, you should look for it on the same side as the fuel filler - most often it is under an upholstered side panel or a service flap. Depending on the brand and model, it can be an ordinary pull rod, and sometimes also a cable with a bright handle or a lever - just pull the filler flap and refueling is no longer a problem.
