We know the winners of the 3rd edition of Roca One Day Design Challenge 2021

On October 8, 2021, the 3rd edition of the Roca One Day Design Challenge, organized by ROCA, took place.The participants stood before the brief at the beginning of the competition day, the task of redesigning the bathroom product, so that its new shape allows easier packaging, laying and transporting in the smallest possible volume, which takes into account the entire life cycle of a given product in the context of sustainable development.When racing with time, young designers had to prepare proposals that meet these requirements in just 6.5 hours before they placed their work on the competition website. Zwycięzcy zostali ogłoszeni za pośrednictwem oficjalnego konta na Instagramie @rocachallenge, zaś uroczysta ceremonia wręczenia nagród odbyła się 22 października br.at the headquarters of the Institute of Industrial Design in Warsaw.

Projekty oceniało jury złożone z uznanych profesjonalistów ze świata designu i architektury, w składzie: Dorota Koziara - projektantka, artystka, architektka wnętrz, dyrektorka artystyczna i kuratorka wystaw, Marta Sękulska-Wrońska - Prezeska Oddziału Warszawskiego SARP, członkini Kolegium Sędziów Konkursowych SARP i Mazowieckiej Izby Architektów, prof. Michał Stefanowski - projektant biura INNO+NPD i kierownik Katedry Projektowania na Wydziale Wzornictwa Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Warszawie, Agnieszka Wasilewska - Prezeska Instytutu Wzornictwa Przemysłowego, Absolwentka Wydziału Archeologii Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego oraz Joanna Dec-Galuk - Dyrektorka marketingu Roca Polska.

Competition projects were evaluated for a good connection of the functions with the form of the product, the possibility of its production, the originality of the solutions used, as well as improving the comfort of use.After reading all reports, the jury decided to choose as a victorious project: "Bathroom Starter Kit", awarding a prize of 1000 euros for his authors: Natalia Hołoś and Anna Czapla - students of the Silesian University of Technology.The jury appreciated the project, as its member emphasized, Dorota Koziara: "The innovative idea of combining all the bathroom elements into a coherent compact, one pack, which allows the most optimal use of the transport space.The whole is great for online sale.An additional advantage is the beauty of the project and the proposition of color variants ".

Pierwsza nagroda: "BATHROOM STARTER KIT" - Natalia Hołoś i Anna Czapla z Politechniki Śląskiej

The second prize, worth 700 euros, was awarded to the project: "Re: Design Duplo One", prepared by Celina Glazik and Piotr Krzyżania with "to point-design studio".As he justified, profile.Michał Stefanowski, this is: "The theoretically unattractive, actually imperceptible project, does not seduce with form and style.Applies to an element invisible to users - a water tank in hanging toilets.The traditional plastic water tank has been replaced in it with a flexible sack, which in transport is flat and does not take up space.Wise and innovative idea ".

Znamy zwycięzców III edycji Roca One Day Design Challenge 2021

The third prize worth 400 euros was won by the "Box-Bath" project, created by Karolina Świstak.As the jury member emphasized, Marta Sękulska-Wrońska: "The award was awarded for the idea of reducing the cubature of the largest bathroom equipment, which is a bathtub, in order to increase the efficiency of transport, with the same attention treating the aesthetic value of the product, allowing to obtain poetic interior arrangements with its use".

In addition to the main prizes, the jury also awarded 7 awards - they were received by: Gabriela Kawińska from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow (for the design of the Lily free -standing bathtub), Aleksandra Chmiel and Martyna Zawieja from "Martyna Zawieja Studio" (for the design of the Omnis bathroom washbasin), AgataDrożdż and Kalina Szyszka from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (for the design of the bathroom sink La Volée), Marta Bukowska and Agata Wierzbowska from the Gdańsk University of Technology (for the design of the non -contact battery Aslant), Anna Gardziejewska and Marcin Winnicki (for the design of the Industria battery), Zuzanna Telka andJan Wilczak from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (for the project of the Misa washbasin) and Mateusz Dzieciuch (for the design of the duva shower battery).

All awarded and distinguished works will be available at the virtual exhibition available on the website of the Institute of Industrial Design.

Organized by ROCA, a leading company dealing in the production, design and distribution of bathroom products, the Roca One Day Design Challenge competition encourages students and professional designers and architects below 30.a year to design new solutions for bathrooms in one day, which can contribute to a more balanced and conscious future.The competition is consistent with the goals of the sustainable development of the United Nations, key for each project implemented these days.

Roca One Day Design Challenge reflects Roca's involvement in supporting talents, innovation and sustainable development, aimed at promoting the role of design in efforts to face the challenges of our world, such as the climate crisis and new social realities.Due to the restrictions related to Pandemia, the 3rd edition of the Roca One Day Design Challenge took place online, which enabled the implementation of the goals of the competition, which are: paying attention to young talents and enabling them to develop professional development under the guidance of reputable experts - members of the jury of the competition jury.

The Roca One Day Design Challenge competition was born in Spain in 2012 and since then it spread quickly all over the world.Coronaviru's pandemic affected the edition of the event planned for 2020, so most of the national competitions had to be canceled (the exception is Portugal, where it took place due to the previous date).In 2021, however, the event was already implemented in 10 countries: Portugal, Poland, Russia, Argentina, Bulgaria, Malaysia, China, Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Spain.In countries where it was not possible to organize a live event, the competition took place in the online formula.
