Sliding patio doors - which one to choose?

The fashion for large-format glazing has made sliding patio doors very popular. They allow you to harmoniously connect the interior of the house with the surroundings, providing a perfect view and the impression of open space.

In addition, they are very comfortable to use. After opening, they do not take up space in the room, because the movable sash moves parallel to the fixed glazing. Thanks to this, there are no restrictions in arranging the interior. When choosing sliding patio doors, it is worth considering the size of the planned glazing and additional functionalities. The maximum dimension of the structure that can be made depends on the type of system used. Individual models also differ in the way they operate and solutions that improve the comfort of use.

Terrace doors, which are one of the key elements of large glazing, allow you to emphasize the unique character of the building and let more natural light into the interior - says Marcin Tomczyński, Management Board Representative for Vetrex Product Assembly and Development.

Lift and slide terrace doors

Lift and slide doors enable the construction of the largest structures among all sliding systems. Their advantage is also exceptional functionality.

Thanks to the use of properly reinforced profiles and fittings with increased load capacity, the lift and slide system is characterized by considerable durability. This allows you to create impressive, panoramic glazing with a small number of visible divisions. For example, the dimensions of the Vetrex Slide 4-panel model reach 6.5 m in width and 2.7 m in height.

Depending on the design of the house, patio doors can be made of 2-4 panels of the same size. There are also different opening options to choose from. In order to get the widest possible passage, you can install the door in a 4-panel arrangement with two middle wings that can be moved to the sides. Even in the case of large structures, the operation of the lift and slide door is easy and light. The sash can be moved with one hand. In this system, it moves on special rollers on a rail located in the threshold part. To further increase closing safety, the door can be equipped with an optional "soft close" system.

It allows you to gently close the sash, without the risk of trapping your hands. The door has a low-threshold solution as standard, which, when properly installed, ensures great comfort and safety. In addition, in the Vetrex Slide 82 model, a special "barrier-free" overlay makes the passage to the terrace practically thresholdless.

The ventilation function is also very useful. It allows you to slightly move the sash and ventilate the room, while the door remains locked. For the most demanding customers, Vetrex Slide patio doors can be equipped with an electric opening and closing mechanism with remote control from a smartphone or remote control.

Sliding patio doors

The sliding system is distinguished by a larger glazing area in the non-opening part and the possibility of making the door in an asymmetric division. In this model, the fixed element is glazed directly in the frame, not in the sash. As a result, the entire structure feels lighter, and even more natural light enters the interior.

Vetrex SLIDE'UP

This system allows you to create glazing slightly smaller than in the case of lift and slide models. For example, Vetrex SLIDE'UP doors are up to 4 m wide and 2.5 m high.

In addition to interesting visual effects, sliding models provide comfort of use. The sash moves here on a rail mounted in the threshold part, thanks to which opening and closing is easy and smooth. The door is also equipped with a micro-ventilation function.

Hand-sliding and tilt-and-slide patio doors

These models work well with slightly smaller glazing. For example, the Vetrex Patio Air swing and slide door and the Vetrex Patio Automatic tilt and slide door can be up to 3 m wide and 2.5 m high. In these systems, when opening the door, we first move or tilt the sash away from the frame.

Vetrex Patio Air sliding and sliding patio doors are then moved along the rail placed in the guide, which is mounted in the lower part of the door frame. Both models are equipped with special brakes ensuring soft closing. Sliding and holding doors additionally have a micro-ventilation function.
