The apartment was found to be completely on fire. The entrance door to this apartment was also burned out, which is why the entire staircase above the fourth floor was smoky - reported the junior brigadier Tomasz Pierzchała from the fire brigade in Opole. Information about the incident was received by firefighters on Thursday before 18.30.
The junior brigadier Tomasz Pierzchała, the press officer of the Municipal Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Opole, said that three people died as a result of the fire. - At 6:26 p.m. after the fire was reported, the guards were sent to Batalionu "Zośka" Street. The apartment was found to be completely on fire. The entrance door to this apartment was also burned out, so the entire staircase above the fourth floor was smoky. 40 people evacuated from the building on their own, and firefighters helped five more people to leave the building, he reported.

- Firefighters are finishing smoke exhausting the building - said junior brigadier Pierzchała on Thursday evening. The fire was extinguished by eight fire brigades. For the duration of the activities, the residents could take refuge in a bus provided by the Municipal Crisis Management Center. They were offered alternative accommodation, but eventually the residents spent the night with their relatives.
As reported by the junior brigadier Pierzchała, the firefighters' activities ended 17 minutes after midnight. - When the firefighters left, the residents could not enter the premises yet. At the peak moment, 36 firefighters from 9 teams were working on the site - said the press officer of the Municipal Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Opole.
"Three charred bodies" in the apartment
- After the fire was extinguished, it turned out that there were three charred bodies inside the apartment. We are talking about adults, but at the moment the identity of these people has not been established - said on Friday morning, aspirant Agnieszka Nierychła, press officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Opole. As she added, the policemen secured the evidence until late at night.
On Friday morning, forensic investigators and technicians are working at the site. - We are also waiting for an expert in the field of firefighting, because his opinion in this matter will be crucial - added the spokeswoman.
It is not yet known who the people who died in the fire or what caused it. This is determined by the police under the supervision of the prosecutor's office.
