The number of systems is so huge that it is impossible to test every nuance during a few hundred -kilometer route.Fortunately, the Estonian weather and the season of the year meant that most of the elements could be checked in practice, e.g..on the roads running through the forest, with almost non -existent traffic and in total darkness.

IQ lighting is the most impressive.Light.In the Touareg model, in one lamp we will find far over 100 light points, in the passage there is less than 50 per lamp.Of course, this translates into the accuracy of the system operation and the overall brightness and intensity of light, but the general rule is the same, as is the spectacularity and accuracy of action.In total darkness, when there are only a few cars on the road, we could clearly see and evaluate it.

Volkswagen IQ.Drive.Night Vision system

In the Volkswagen Touareg model you will also find an assistant at night or Night Vision.Using a thermal imaging camera, which can be found behind the radiator cover (it has an additional cleaning nozzle) and ultrasonic sensors in the VW logo at the front, the system displays an image from the infrared environment with visible silhouettes of people and animals on the indicator table.The system is able to detect in the dark of pedestrians, cyclists and larger animals that are in front of the car.If necessary, even if the driver does not use the image preview on the indicator board, the system will display a possible threat with selecting it on orange.When a man or animal is on the track, the warning will be displayed in red.Everything works above 10 km/h.At speeds below 50 km/h, all functions are hidden and operate discreetly, but after exceeding 60 km/h, the system warns a man walking along the side of the lights.There are, of course, some restrictions.The system does not work at a temperature above 28 degrees Celsius due to the too little difference in the heat between the environment and man.Problems may also arise during rain.The monitored area is up to 300 meters in front of the vehicle, although in practice the system is able to detect and warn against a threat at a distance of 8 to 130 meters in front of the car.

During several hours of testing, we could pre -assess how advanced IQ systems are doing.Drive, including sensational IQ headlights.Light.Everything went according to plan, although of course it happened several times that you had to help the car, slightly improve the cruise control etc.This does not mean, of course, that the system is poorly developed, but that the automatic driving functions are still insufficient to give the machine to the machine.All this certainly goes in the right direction and with skillful use with a lot of reason, slowly to significantly improve comfort and safety while traveling.
