RPD: a few months old child saw their parents six months later

"This separation is especially experienced by small children and children with disabilities who cannot communicate with their loved ones via telephone or communicators. For them, the most important thing is physical contact, the possibility of hugging their mother, grandmother or aunt. I was informed about an emergency placement. in an institution of a few-month-old child, at home, breastfed, who saw their parents only six months later "- noted the spokesman.

Pawlak emphasized at the same time that he knows that directors of institutions are in a difficult situation, because they are responsible for the health of children and employees and for ensuring the continuity of the centers' operation. "I know a case when the director himself had to provide care for several pupils during their 10-day quarantine. The educational staff took sick leave, and the only person who decided to support the director was the cook" - he noted.

"It seems reasonable to expand this group of people"

That is why - he pointed out - "quick vaccination of employees of such centers is a way to quickly resume contacts of these children and adolescents with their families, without exposing the staff to coronavirus infection".

The ombudsman for children's rights pointed out that in group zero there were, among others, employees of nursing homes and municipal social welfare centers. "In my opinion, it seems reasonable to expand this group of people to include employees of care and educational institutions and employees of day support centers who systematically help children from dysfunctional families in their place of residence, cooperate with these families for the sake of children, provide meals to the charges and monitor the current situation. at home "- he pointed.

He added that "the lack of such assistance may result in the need to place the child in a care and educational institution". "That is why I see a great need to enable them to function without disruptions" - emphasized Pawlak.
