Hyundai SUVs. KONA or Tucson – which is best for you?

Muscular SUV with a sporty edge

An example of such an SUV - combining bold design, modern styling and practicality - is the Hyundai KONA, a car distinguished by a muscular silhouette, aerodynamic, streamlined body shape and unusual details, such as the roof or exterior mirrors covered with a color other than the body color. But KONA is not just an attractive design. There are also numerous solutions that increase the safety of the driver, which include, above all, the front headlights made in LED technology (equipped with a static cornering lighting system). And since we're talking about modern solutions. In the cabin of the KONA there is also a place for gadgets that will make every journey more pleasant and efficient: a transparent head-up display (providing the driver with information about road warnings, navigation indications or vehicle speed), a KRELL sound system, a wireless smartphone charger and infotainment equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen designed for on-board multimedia and the most popular communication protocols (thanks to which we will find current information about road traffic, weather and speed measurement points).

KONA can also be equipped with one of three basic power units: a turbocharged petrol engine 1.6 T-GDI with 177 hp or 1.0 T-GDI 120 hp and a diesel engine 1.6 CRDi with 136 hp. The most powerful of the engines is available with either two- or all-wheel drive and is mated to a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (7DCT) that combines the benefits of manual and automatic transmissions. The weaker gasoline engine, meanwhile, drives one axle and works great in combination with a 6-speed manual gearbox (the system is tuned in such a way as to reduce fuel consumption as much as possible).

KONA is also available as a hybrid - with a 32 kW electric motor, a 105 hp petrol engine and a six-speed DCT - and an all-electric version. In the latest edition, Hyundai's electric SUV develops 150 hp and accelerates in 7.6 seconds. With these parameters, it is able to cover up to 449 km on a single charge and accelerate to a maximum of 167 km / h. The KONY battery can be charged in 54 minutes (fast charging) or 9 hours and 35 minutes (7.2kW charging).

A car made to measure

The Hyundai KONA is, as we have already mentioned, an extraordinary car. And, most importantly, extremely focused on personalization. By choosing one of three stylistic packages - Red, Lime and Silver - we will adjust its appearance to our own preferences. The color of small finishing elements, seat belts, steering arms or rims surrounding the interior door handles can be individualized. But that's not all: if the need arises, the KONY's luggage space can be instantly expanded from 361 to 1143 liters (just fold down the rear seats), making it easy to transport even large items.

The KONA model also features a number of safety systems. All of them are part of the SmartSense package, which includes e.g. Lane Departure Assist, Collision Warning Assist with Pedestrian Detection (which can automatically initiate the braking procedure), Blind Spot Sensors, High Beam Assist that automatically switches off when necessary (to avoid dazzling oncoming drivers) ) or a system that monitors the level of fatigue and concentration of the driver.

Design refined in every detail

The new Hyundai Tucson is above all an athletic, thoroughbred appearance, harmonious proportions and modern styling. That there is no room for boredom is evidenced by the strongly defined side lines, the cascading chrome grille and the aggressive line of LED headlights (made in BI-LED technology and available with LED indicators). All of this makes the Tucson a refined, bold and unique car. But that's not all: the slim silhouette of the car guarantees a very low drag coefficient, which in turn translates into lower fuel consumption.

However, not only the silhouette of the car is impressive, but also the technologies used in it. On board the Tucson we will find an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system (supporting navigation, on-board multimedia as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto services), a 360-degree camera system that allows you to monitor the surroundings around the vehicle on an ongoing basis, an eight-speaker premium sound system KRELL or finally an intelligent, electrically opened tailgate. The Tucson's cargo space can be up to 1,503 liters (with the rear seats folded down) or 513 liters (with the rear seats up). This means that the Hyundai SUV will also be suitable for transporting large sports equipment or bicycles, as well as any items with large dimensions.

A car that does not get bored

The spacious interior of the Tucson is also impressive, which has been finished with the use of the highest quality materials. The dashboard is covered with premium plastic (it is also decorated with an elegant, double stitch strip) and ecological leather, which gives the whole thing a class and timeless elegance. The car's upholstery can also be optionally made of embossed leather. But that's not all: in the Hyundai Tucson's cabin we can find automatic, dual-zone air conditioning, electrically controlled, heated and ventilated front seats (the driver's seat is adjustable in ten planes, and the passenger's - in eight), an inductive charger for a mobile phone or a set of multimedia inputs AUX and USB for connecting a smartphone or portable music player.

The new Tucson can also be ordered in the N Line trim level with a sporty finish, enhanced power steering, more aggressive suspension settings and even more dynamic styling. In this version, the Tuscon impresses both from the outside - thanks to its black wing mirror housings, rear spoiler and black painted grille with N logo - and inside the cabin, highlighted by contrasting color elements - red stitching on the multifunction steering wheel (additionally trimmed with perforated leather), sports seats (covered with leather and suede material) and a specially modified gearshift lever signed with the N emblem.

In Tucson, as in the case of the KONA model, we will find the Hyundai SmartSense system, which includes, among others, high-beam assistant automatically switching high-beam to dipped beam, driver's fatigue, attention and concentration control system, air pressure monitoring system in all tires, lane keeping system, intelligent, adaptive cruise control (not only maintaining the set speed, but also automatically adjusting the speed of our cars to the speed of the cars ahead) or an automatic braking system capable of initiating braking in the event of danger detection.

What's under the hood? The new Hyundai Tucson is available in four engine variants: 1.6 T-GDI turbo petrol engine with 177 hp or 1.6 GDI 132 hp (non-turbocharged) and diesel engines 1.6 CRDi 136 hp and 2.0 CRDI 185 hp . The most powerful gasoline engine also supports four-wheel drive and can be combined with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT transmission. The most powerful diesel engine works with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
