Range? Lack. But there are alarm niches

In the outer walls of both aisles of the tunnel (approx. every 125 meters) there are 19 alarm niches. In turn, in the inner walls there are nine niches (every 250 meters) with emergency passages to the adjacent nave. At each of the niches, signs informing about their equipment have been installed - in each there is an emergency telephone, a fire extinguisher and a fire blanket, and there are also hydrants in the evacuation passages.

Using the tunnel emergency communication system, drivers calling for help will no longer need to identify where they are. The use of the emergency phone will be visible on the computer screens in the Tunnel Management Center, as will the activation of the manual call point (small red box on the wall at the entrance to the alcove) or the removal of the fire extinguisher from the locker.

Camera-controlled POW tunnel

The situation on each of the 2335 meters of the tunnel is constantly monitored by 134 cameras. 22 are speed dome cameras installed at the entrances and exits of the tunnel and opposite the emergency passages. The rest are fixed cameras - 104 of them were installed along the inner walls of the tunnel, and 8 at the inlets and outlets. The latter acquire the image for the automatic number plate recognition system used e.g. to collect statistical data on travel times. This is the sectional speed measurement mentioned at the beginning of the article.

Access to monitoring, in addition to the Tunnel Management Center, is also available to the Capital Police Headquarters and the Security Center of the Capital City of Warsaw. Warsaw. The television surveillance system has the function of automatically detecting certain events, e.g. the appearance of a pedestrian, stopping the vehicle or driving the wrong way.
