So without cables you can also.Eufycam 2 Pro camera - review

  2. Tech

To make the formalities be done: the Euphycam 2 Pro set, usually valued at OK.PLN 1,900 (although in the Apple store it is for less than PLN 1,800) and consists of three elements - two cameras with a complete assembly set and base station, which also plays the role of a magazine registered by cameras video materials (16 GB) and alarm control panel.Yes, it's the same control panel that is required for the EuFy intercom and yes - you can attach cameras and intercom to one base.

What is worth knowing about Eufycam 2 Pro above all?The fact that they do not need an external power source. Each of them is equipped with a built -in battery, which - according to the manufacturer's declaration, will last up to 365 days before the need to re -connect for charging.I may not throw too many spoilers here, but yes - such results, or at least similar, can be achieved, although under certain conditions.

In addition, Cameras in the PRO version offer 2K video registration, and they also have a speaker, microphone, motion sensor with a detection sensitivity adjustment (detection range - up to 10 meters), WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), lens with clarity f/2.0 and width 140 degrees, LEDs illuminating night recordings, face detection system, anti -trail alarm, monitoring zones and several other gadgets.

It's now, since we have grounds, you can go on.

How is it mounted and will it withstand poor conditions?

I answer in turn: very easy and yes.

As for the strength of external factors, Euphycam 2 Pro should cope in Polish conditions.I kept two cameras from the set outside during frosts, snowfall, rainfall, hail and generally in our local weather crap - they are completely fine, so I can rather confirm the fulfillment of the requirements of the IP67 standard declared by the manufacturer.

We should not have major problems with assembly. Each of the cameras is attached to the appropriate assembly kit - external and internal, which requires us to install a base plate with two screws, to which we then attach the handle that suits us (there is a version for assembly in the interior and outside).

The camera after installation can still be set in accordance with our needs using a ball head - then only tightening of fest and work is left.I have to point out that I did not put myself specifically to the entire assembly, and even the last powerful winds did not affect the camera position in any way.

The only note - this is probably the first case when I failed to screw the mounting screws directly into a wooden pole, to which I usually install test cameras. The screws from the set have such soft heads that I was able to smooth them completely from the inside.I suggest drilling mounting holes, and then just embedding the screw in them.

And no power supply?

None.Theoretically, there is an option to connect to solar panels, but I did not use it (because I have no way). The cameras have been charged by the microUSB socket hidden under the cap (probably time to go to USB-C, because next year no one will have such a cable at home) and installed.

And it is quite beautiful - a two -haired monitoring set can be installed in about 5-10 minutes, without any tools (except for these, to drill holes to screws) and no knowledge about which cable to connect, and which fuse to turn off toit did not fried us.I appreciate.

And how does it connect?Or rather - how far from home can such cameras be installed?

By wifi.Unfortunately, if someone dreamed that he would mount such a camera at the other end of a large garden and it will work it all beautifully, then I have to disappoint it - it will not be like that.

In my case, the cameras were placed - of course outside the house - at a distance of about 10-12 m from the EuFY base station and about 3-5 m from the nearest home router.Any attempts at this area ended with either information about the average range, or the disconnection of the camera with the base.

It is possible that with a different house construction, these results could be improved, but in my test environment it was rather Maks, which could be obtained.

This is now the most important question - how with this battery?

Good, and maybe even great, although very large depends on how much movement prevails in the place that we want to monitor.

For example, one of my cameras is directed to the back of the garden, in which someone has not often appeared recently, because the weather is ugly and nobody wants to stuff in the mud.On the other hand - all the more I would like to know if someone was spinning there.

Czyli bez kabli też się da. Kamera eufyCam 2 Pro - recenzja

Over the last 50 days from the previous charging, the camera - connected to homekit, which further affects energy consumption - has recorded video 59 times (at the same time filter 935 events as false alarms - I understand, a lot of moving trees there).Battery consumption?10 percent. In this arrangement, the camera would withstand a lot of over a year - which is not surprising so much, taking into account the fact that the data from the manufacturer concerns many times more frequent use.

However, if we set the camera in a more busy place, then we have to reckon with clearly greater wear, but it is not bad either. The camera installed where it recorded ok every day.A dozen or so, and more materials, it discharged at such a pace that probably around 10 months you would have to hook it for 8 hours of charging to the charger.

In short: if we really want to charge the camera rarely, yes - this is a good choice and these 365 days are not taken from the hat.At the same time, you have to reckon with the fact that the more often the camera is recorded, the shorter the periods between the charges. But it's not very revealing.

And how is traffic detection and notifications?

With notifications - great. They reach each time - at least those tested, and there would be several hundred of them - and usually they go to our phone with a second after actually someone is within the sensor range.

However, it is definitely worth spending a moment in the settings and checking if the camera and sensitivity of the sensor are set in a way that will satisfy us.Theoretically, the range is about 10 m, but in practice - depending on the settings and settings of the camera itself - it may be definitely smaller.

Parameters declared by the manufacturer (or similar) can be obtained - also at night - but e.g..In my case, this required the sensitivity to the highest level and camera settings a little higher than I installed the first time (they are recommended 2-3 m from the ground).

Fortunately, even setting sensitivity to the maximum level did not lead to any side effects - no alarms with moving trees, no alarms with flying birds.According to the settings, I was informed only about the appearance of man in the frame.

There is another nice trick with detection of people.

Namely, in any case, when the camera detects a man, the system tries to add a thumbnail with the face of a caught person to recording the video.Like e.g..here:

It is so useful because we can quickly verify whether someone from the family appeared on the recording, and there is nothing to worry about, or someone we don't know and should not be here.

Importantly, usually these miniatures are quite good quality and can be enlarged as much as possible.Much, however, depends on the conditions - sometimes it happens that the camera detects man, detects movement, saves the material, but is not able to present the face of the intruder in good quality, so it does not do it at all.

By the way - unfortunately the Eufy camera is able to identify only people. He can't - like.Netatmo camera - include, for example,.cars or animals and perform specific actions for their activities (e.g..Entry without notification or notification without entry).Either everything or nothing.

And the quality of recordings?

Artistic - rather without miracles. In some places, the powerful chromatic aberration hurts on the edges of the branches against the sky, and the sides of the image are quite distorted, but...I don't think that's what safety cameras are.

So if you focus on whether you can see anything on these materials and as you can see something on them, it is already good or very good in most cases. And regardless of the time of day.

However, it is worth starting with something different, namely...restrictions.And yes, although both cameras can theoretically record the image in 2K, e.g..When using Homekita, 1080p video will be sent to the Apple service.Inside the EuFy application, there will be 2K, but not in Homekit.

And of course, short videos downloaded from application to phone, and then dropped from iCloud to YouTube.

During the day:

And at night:

Dej without snow:

And from the perspective of the frog:

So it's all right, especially when it comes to detecting people in the squad, starting recording and recognizing that he is actually a man.In the vast majority of cases, you should also be able to extract a cage on which the intruder's face will be visible - and that's what it's about. All in all, it won't even have to be distinguished - the application will do it for us.

I could only complain at times that the night lighting of the stage works from time to time in a bit incomprehensible to me, e.g..Burning elements that should not burn (faces, etc..) and then he takes a moment to return to the right state. But these are rather sporadic cases.

If someone asked what happened to the colors in the night pictures, then the answer is unfortunately simple - they are not there. The same, unfortunately, with recordings registered automatically, after detecting the movement, there is no buffer that would glue the video preceding the detection - but with a battery webcam it is rather not surprising.

What else is worth knowing?

Even the fact that we can set M for each camera.in.Battery management mode - even limiting energy consumption. And also that during really long tests I only had a problem with connecting to the camera - and disappeared immediately after the application reset. And the fact that you can turn on the anti -theft alarm for selected cameras that will start howling if the camera is moved.

Ah, you don't need to use Euphycam 2 Pro any subscription ($ 10.monthly, if we have more than one device). You can buy it, but you don't have to.You can also connect your own NAS.

Is it worth it?

If someone is looking for a camera that they will charge once a year, or - in a worse case - once every few months and which will work without major problems - Eufycam 2 Pro marks virtually all necessary grilles. It is easy to install, easily configurates, and then simply works, giving a picture that you are unlikely to be ashamed of, while providing - or perhaps above all - reliable and quick notifications.

Of course, this is not an ideal equipment - especially since the battery charging must be remembered (or rather it needs to be done), there is a bit of recording buffer, which would supplement the materials recorded after detecting motion, and the motion sensor could have more range "by default".

But if we don't want to have cables or we can't have them - this is definitely a good direction.
