Over a quarter of a million zlotys for a computer and other absurd prices at Apple

Let us add that, according to the Central Statistical Office, in the second quarter of this year, the average price of 1 square meter of usable space in a residential building was PLN 5,112, which means that you can buy a flat with an area of just over 50 square meters for the price of this computer.

Pro Display XDR monitor

A monitor whose design resembles the Mac Pro described above, which suggests that it is not cheap. The version with standard glass costs PLN 23,999, and the monitor with a nanostructured coating costs PLN 27,999. The mentioned coating diffuses the light falling on the display, while ensuring very good image quality with constant contrast.

Display Pro XDR has an IPS LCD display with a diagonal of 32 inches. The resolution is 6016 by 3384 pixels.

Instead of a monitor, you can buy a ready-to-drive, 7-8-year-old car in good technical condition for PLN 28,000.

Accessories for Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR

The Mac Pro and the Pro Display XDR monitor are very expensive. You can also buy accessories dedicated to those products whose prices are also not low. While the price of both of these devices is at least partly justified by their technical specifications, it is difficult to say what the prices of these accessories are based on. For example, you can buy from the Apple Online Store:

Ponad ćwierć miliona złotych za komputer i inne absurdalne ceny w Apple

The stand is adjustable in height and angle, and allows you to change the orientation of the screen, so you can position the monitor according to your needs. It's hard to write anything interesting about casters and feet.

iPad Pro

iPad is an Apple brand tablet. These types of devices were originally intended for content consumption, i.e. surfing the Internet, watching movies or reading e-books. Apple took tablets to another level. The iPad Pro is a device that is equipped with the M1 chip, the same one found in last year's MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and Mac mini models, among others.

For the most expensive model of the iPad Pro, which is equipped with a 12.9-inch screen with mini-LED backlight, 2 TB of mass memory and a modem for 5G networks, you have to pay PLN 11 799.

Quite a lot for a product that is a bit limited though. The hardware of the iPad Pro is very good, but the iPadOS system is much less developed than, for example, macOS or Windows. Even a decent file explorer is missing.

Accessories for AirTag

AirTag is a locator that resembles a large coin in shape and size. It is visible in the Localizator application, thanks to which you can monitor its location on an ongoing basis. You can put it, for example, in a wallet or attach it to another valuable thing, thanks to which it will always be under control. AirTag costs PLN 159 - not much compared to the devices described above.

However, the prices of accessories dedicated to AirTag locators are absurd. The absurdity is that they are more expensive than AirTag itself. The leather band costs PLN 215, and the leather key ring - PLN 189. The accessories are made of "specially tanned European leather and stainless steel components". The only function of these accessories is that the AirTaga can be attached to other items.

Monitor cloth

The cheapest product from this list, but you need to pay as much as PLN 99 for the cloth. If that was not enough, the waiting time for shipping is now 10 to 12 weeks. So it is a commodity with limited availability. The cloth is made of a soft material that does not scratch, so it can be used to clean the display with nanostructured glass - this for 28,000 zlotys.

In addition to the price, the long waiting time for shipping also wonders. Perhaps Apple has a so-called out-of-reach rule that makes hard-to-reach things an object of desire, but applying some psychological tricks to the cloth would be an exaggeration.

Let me know in the comments what do you think about Apple products and their prices? Is it adequate to what these devices offer?
