Review of the Nextbase 322GW video recorder with a camera on the rear window

It is worth stopping at the screen for longer.Qualitatively, this is a completely good display, taking into account really good viewing angles, allowing it to use both the driver and the passenger, without fear of visibility of the displayed content.

It is a lot worse with resolution, because the frayed edges of numbers and icons are what is striking right away.Fortunately, however, the screen in the video recorder is not at all to look at it.

What is it for?Well, to be able to set or switch something quickly.Believe me, however, that you will not reach for it too often - the basic interface does not encourage, and the screen itself is quite small, so setting anything requires patience.In addition, the screen reaction can be quite slow, perhaps through the processor used (although I was not able to find information about it anywhere).

But this is not a tragedy, because all the settings that are available from the video recorder are also visible in the mobile application.Mynextbase Connect, because we are talking about it, you can download both Google Play and AppStore (in the Appgalllery it is not available).

At the beginning I have to tell you that Mynextbase Connect will not become my favorite mobile application.She looks like she wasn't fully refined - or just as she was, but some time ago and the developer forgot about her.In my opinion, it could be used to refresh and adapt to the current standards.But the appearance of the appearance, and the lack of refinement of the messages offends the eyes.

In addition, the application very often throws out the connection error message, so we are not able to see a live camera preview - although it is connected and visible in the application.As a rule, after several dozen secondsdealing.

But probably the strangely looks like camera settings for me - there is no indication that individual lines are clickable (UX rather poor, you will admit).But it is worth clicking on them, because under each one important settings are available, which we can define-much more convenient than from the touch screen, which I have already mentioned when discussing the 2.5-inch display.

Possibilities of the Nextbase 332GW video recorder

NextBase 332GW offers so -called emergency response, i.e. detection of events in which, for example,.Tap our car - after detecting overload, the recorder automatically starts saving the recording in file protection mode (without movie overworks).

This function may be extremely useful in combination with parking mode, during which the camera after turning the ignition goes into standby mode.Fortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to check how it works in reality.

The rear camera can be used as a reversing camera - it is enough to enable the appropriate option in the settings, which is turned off by default to be able to display the view of it on the full video recorder screen (quoting the description of the function from the application: "When the view display at the rear is in full -screen mode, the image will stayrotated horizontally to imitate a look in the mirror ").

The last important function is Emergency SOS - if the video recorder detects an accident, he will automatically call rescue services.Of course, enter your personal data before - including the phone number, blood group, etc..

Nextbase 332GW in practice

The NextBase 332GW video recorder records materials in 1080p or 720p - in both cases we have 30 or 60 fps at our disposal.When we connect the camera mounted to the rear window, its quality is automatically set to 720p 30 FPS (and front 1080p 30 fps).Just start the car engine so that the camera starts recording - if you want to take a picture during its operation, just touch the screen.

Having a camera installed on the rear window, a total of four files are saved on the memory card - two from the front camera and two from the rear - one in full quality, the other in worse, to quickly send to the phone using the wireless connection.This setting is by default - however, this can be changed and recorded only in high quality recordings.

Just as we can turn off the recording of sounds from the video recorder, model of the model, speed or registration number of the car.You can also turn off the time marker and GPS coordinates, but I do not recommend it - on the occasion of a road incident, it is worth having this information available immediately (in total the speed at which we were traveling, it may also be useful).

As you can see in the following sample video, registered video is characterized by a small effect of a barrel, and this is because the angle of view of the lens (whose brightness is interesting, f/1.6) is 140 °.You will not hear recordings from the microphone - forgive me, I calmed down our private conversations with Kuba;).

Looking at the video I recorded, I get the impression that the camera mounted on the rear window can only be useful in good lighting conditions - the darker the quality of the recorded material drops and it is difficult to even see the numbers of the car's registration platesee.It will be similar in more difficult weather conditions - when it rains or snow.

As you could also see, it is quite easy to overlook the fact that the module has twisted, as a result of which the test recordings are realized at a certain angle - unfortunately, the magnet has it that it allows the camera to move slightly e.g..during a stronger chopping tailgate.

However, when it comes to the main video recorder module, mounted on the windshield - it sticks to its place without any problems.And quality?I do not think that it is extremely great - during the day, if the car goes in close proximity to us, we are able to read its registration numbers, and the overall quality does not leave much to be desired (maybe except for high grains that cannot be missed).

Worse if the car goes faster or if there is a gray / night.Sure, we will record a road incident with our participation and we will have proof that it took place, but if we want to look for the perpetrator who escaped from the scene, it may be a bit difficult.

Summary

Nextbase 322GW costs ok.PLN 500, while the camera for the rear window - PLN 249.I have no insight if it is a lot for the possibilities offered or not.

However, I know one thing - the quality of recorded materials in my opinion is very average if we consider the camera to the back (fortunately optional - you do not have to add it to the set with 322GW).The front is a bit better, especially when the cars are in front of us at a short distance.

The quality of recordings is one thing, but the device has different advantages - parking mode and sauce is for many something that will speak for buying this model.This video recorder is to provide a sense of security and does it quite well.And is it equipment for you - everyone must answer this question individually.

7.5/10 in the case of 322GW flies from me.The module for the glass, in my opinion, deserves a much lower note.
