New technologies in cars - safety

Today, the smart slogan defines almost everything - watches, telephones, cities, houses, and also cars. The prices, usually exorbitant, which limited the possibility of acquiring technological wonders, are falling every year. Just as in the past, smartphones were only a gadget for the chosen ones, and today almost everyone can afford it, so soon modern technological solutions will become our everyday life in every area of life, also in the automotive industry. Not only the manufacturers of top-class cars reach for innovations that are to improve, make the car ride more pleasant and easier, or make it safer. It is through the new technologies that the car concerns compete with each other for the favor of the customer.

On-board computers, sensors, driving assistance systems are already the norm in most cars. Now, technological trends concern much more serious solutions.

Safety comes first. Improving driving comfort is not only a matter of convenience. Cameras, modern lighting systems, monitoring that support the senses and reactions of drivers are to contribute to the prevention of road accidents. And even if they do occur, appropriate systems and protections are designed to minimize the health consequences of accident participants, including pedestrians.

Car manufacturers care not only for our health, but also for the wealth of our wallets. Because the environmental awareness among customers, built by the concerns, is not just an empty slogan and a vision of a clean environment. It is also a significant saving. By actively supporting the implementation of EU standards for limiting gas emissions to the atmosphere, the automotive industry provides drivers with systems that reduce fuel consumption or recover energy generated while driving.

New technologies also contribute to expanding the group of people who can use their four wheels. First of all, the manufacturers, thinking about the cars of the future, test solutions for people with disabilities, both in terms of movement and sensation. Soon, we can pass cars on the streets that will drive alone, or through specific, series-mounted mechanisms, will become a friendly means of communication for disabled people.

There is also a whole range of technological curiosities, which can be considered in the category of gadgets, straight from the films about Agent 007. Such solutions are certainly not one driver envy.

Security systems

EyeSight Subaru

Behind this mysterious name is a mechanism that Subaru fans can be truly proud of. It's not a sensor, but a stereoscopic camera that literally sees the dangers on the road. Subaru's electronic eyes never leave the road, blink, distract, remain fully available at all times and ensure our road safety. EyeSight's primary function is to estimate the distance of objects in front of the vehicle. By comparing images from both cameras, this modern system can recognize cars and determine their direction. The system also sees other road users - motorcyclists, cyclists or pedestrians. In an emergency, the camera also activates the emergency braking options. It is able to stop the car completely in front of the obstacle if the car speed does not exceed 50 km / h.

Warning systems against accidental leaving the road lane:

A long journey is always dangerous for the driver. Fatigue, a loss of concentration and even inattention can easily lead to an accident. To prevent this, many car manufacturers have decided to introduce warning systems against accidental lane departure. The so-called Lane Keeping Assist alerts the driver by vibrating the steering wheel. This is possible thanks to special drivers that recognize the lines on the road and are able to determine the position of the car in relation to them. Such solutions are introduced in their new models by manufacturers, among others BMW, Volvo, Mercedes, Honda, Audi and Lexus

Driver's well-being monitoring

Lane departure warning sensors may be unnecessary when cars that monitor driver well-being become available on the market. Audi and Mercedes, in cooperation with developers of mobile applications, are working on introducing such systems before 2020. They will control whether the driver does not get behind the wheel drunk, does not fall asleep while driving and whether he is sufficiently focused. If the answer to any of these questions is incorrect, then the system will react and inform, for example, about delayed reactions of the organism. This function is now fulfilled by special wristbands, thanks to which every driver going on a long journey can control the level of his fatigue.

Parking systems

In large cities, where it is not easy to find a parking space, Park Assist will certainly be useful for everyone. It scans and analyzes the space around the car, finding a free parking space. It can be considered that it is not a big deal because we can find the empty place ourselves. However, the rest of the driver assistance features provided by Park Assist will certainly be appreciated, especially by novice drivers. After finding a parking space, the system will calculate the angle and calculate the route necessary to perform a given maneuver. It will also indicate on a special display how to set the car. After that, you just have to remember about the gas and brake pedals, because the steering wheel will be fully under the control of the system that will properly position the car in the parking lot.

Road sign recognition system

Opel Eye is a system that can recognize road signs, as well as read speed limits on a specific route segment. This is possible thanks to a special camera mounted on the windshield. Similar solutions are also used by many other manufacturers of leading brands, including Nissan, Ford, Volvo. For what? This innovative solution not only improves safety and reduces the level of stress while driving, but also, as its originators praise, allows you to avoid a fine, in the form of a fine, for speeding.

Pedestrian airbags

For years, the Volvo brand has been associated with safety, and has decided to take care not only of drivers, but also of pedestrians. Thanks to the system, which is currently being tested, as intended by the engineers, it will be possible to reduce injuries caused by accidents and hits, especially among pedestrians. These are to be airbags hidden under the hood, which are activated thanks to special sensors placed on the front bumper. In addition, the front part of Volvo cars is to be made of special metal alloys that absorb some of the energy during a collision with a car, thus reducing the health consequences of the accident victim.

Active Protection System

Another solution to improve driving safety is proposed by BMW. The Active Protection system, developed by German engineers, monitors the driver's reactions and recommends taking a break at the right moment on the monitor. Additionally, thanks to the system of front and rear cameras and sensors, the system monitors the external danger while driving. If the car detects a risk of a collision, it tightens the seat belt system and closes the windows to minimize the consequences of an accident.

BMW Night Vision

Night Vision proposed by BMW is nothing more than a heat-sensitive system for recognizing people, animals or other objects and obstacles on the road. The night vision camera captures objects up to 300 meters in front of the car, illuminating them so that they are noticed by the vehicle driver, without dazzling them. If the threat is high, the system sends a signal to alert you to the possible danger.
