"A driver, a passenger, an unprotected road user should be aware that he is not alone on the road, that dozens - if not hundreds - of vehicles and other road users are moving around him at any moment. you need to be able to keep common sense and move in such a way as not to pose a threat" - appealed the president of the Partnership for Road Safety Bartłomiej Morzycki.

Panaceum automatic surveillance system

New roads, and the causes of road accidents the same as always

A good solution for improving safety was considered by the participants of the discussion to be an automatic surveillance system (e.g. speed cameras, surveillance cameras), more thorough checking of the technical condition of vehicles and legislative changes.

"We want to focus on improving the enforcement of penalties by the automatic supervision system, introduce legislative changes regarding road traffic" - emphasized Boris Poleganow from the Association in an interview with PAP.

In France and Spain, the introduction of an automatic surveillance system has reduced the number of road accidents by up to 50%. representatives of the association said.

"We should copy well-functioning legislative provisions in other countries. We intend to present a proposal for new provisions at the first sitting of the Sejm after the holidays. For now, we are consulting our ideas with experts" - said Beata Bublewicz, the chairwoman of the Parliamentary Road Safety Team (PO).

The condition of the vehicles matters

According to the participants of the conference and discussion, the condition of vehicles should also be checked more thoroughly. "At the same time, let's take care of the development of roads and the safety of our vehicles. Then these disgraceful statistics will certainly improve" - summed up Morzycki.
