How does e-TOLL work? Controls drivers with cameras!

How does e-TOLL work? It is a system based on automatic gantries that will not block access to the route, but will check the registration number of the car.

How does e-TOLL work?

How does e-TOLL work? It is quite simple. The driver, when entering the tolled section, has to pay the toll himself. And the word alone is the key here. Because on the paid sections of A2 (between Konin and Stryków) and A4 (between Wrocław and Sośnica), entry gates will disappear. There will also be no traffic controllers. Does this mean you can slip through the system without penalty? Well just no.

The fine for not paying the e-TOLL is PLN 500 for a passenger car and even PLN 1,500 for a truck!

e-TOLL, i.e. cameras will check drivers

The National Tax Administration, managing e-TOLL payments, has decided to take great care of tightening the payments. That is why, today, special police cars have appeared on the roads, monitoring the registration numbers of cars encountered on A2 and A4 with cameras. Then the information goes to the system, which checks whether the driver has paid the fee. If not, the relevant information about the ticket is sent to his home address.

e-TOLL requires the creation of new infrastructure

On December 1, 2021, the e-TOLL will also be extended to passenger cars. Then, however, an additional solution will also be launched. And this assumes the appearance of a special gantry at the entrance and exit from the toll section, equipped with cameras and sensors. The solution will be provided by VITRONIC Machine Vision Polska Sp. z o. o. Under an agreement with the State Treasury, the company will design, build and launch 19 new checkpoints (gantries) over toll roads in Poland. As part of the cooperation, VITRONIC will also adapt the existing infrastructure located around "gates" which are part of the manual toll collection system.

The e-TOLL system can handle even heavy traffic

One checkpoint can serve multiple lanes in both directions at the same time. Highly effective detection and identification technology allows you to control even at high speeds and intensity of vehicles, as well as when changing lanes, at night or in fog. Our solution enables smooth traffic, without the need for time-consuming stopping at the existing "gates", and therefore will significantly facilitate and improve travel around Poland, shortening the travel time, and thus - its costs. - says the president of VITRONIC Machine Vision Polska, Michał Żuchora.
