Fabia in detail: more comfortable, practical, a class above [AUTOOPEDIA]
It's more comfortable, but still practical
The front has been redesigned, the dashboard has been changed, the car looks a bit different from the back - at first glance, it can be assumed that there are few changes after the facelift. It's not true. Every detail of the Fabia has been revised so that Škoda is not only more comfortable for users, but also - as required - more premium. There are new upholstery stitching, an armrest equipped with USB sockets and new upholstery patterns.
Depending on the version, you can have different colors of the headliner (in Monte Carlo, even black - just like in high-performance cars). The more expensive Fabias have a discreet backlight of the lower part of the console, so that it is easier to find small items usually transported in this place. You can order a city car even with 18-inch wheels (for the first time such large rims were used in the Fabia).
Luggage space from a car up a class
With a length of 4 meters (and a wheelbase of 2.5 m), five passengers can fit inside and 330 liters of luggage space - as much space for the new Fabia hatchback as it places it among the top cars in this segment. In the wagon version, which is intended not only for couples or singles, but also for families with children, there is obviously more space in the trunk - as much as 530 liters. This result can be compared with European... minivans.
The seats can also be folded down, increasing the loading space up to 1.15 cubic meters. In the station wagon, this figure increases to an impressive 1.39 cubic metres.
Voice-controlled multimedia
Infotainment equipment helps when traveling with the youngest. The Fabia is available with one of four audio kits. Even the simplest, Blues, has a USB connection and an SD card slot. Radio Swing Plus is a 6.5-inch touchscreen, SmartLink+ and Bluetooth, as well as the Škoda Surround System and two additional speakers. The most expensive Amundsen set is the most extensive, it can also be voice controlled. It offers surround sound and can be turned into a hotspot. It is interesting that the radio - thanks to the Media Command control system - can also be controlled from the back seat. If the driver likes loud music and someone in the back prefers silence and has a remote control...
Always online
Fabia - like other modern Škodas - is Connect. What does it mean? The fact that it can be equipped with navigation and provide important information online (e.g. about the weather, but also search for free parking spaces or show traffic jams in real time). Using the appropriate application, you can determine where you parked it, as well as monitor the statistics of travel parameters - average fuel consumption, average speed, distance traveled and time.
You can connect to the Škoda hotline at the touch of a button above the driver's head. The second button - when there is a breakdown and we urgently need a mechanic - will contact us directly with the service. Fabia can plan the right service at the right time and with a specific mileage, and then help arrange an appointment at the Dealership. In the event of an accident, she will also call for help herself.
Driving assistants help the driver
Although it has urban dimensions, the Fabia boasts equipment known from cars of higher segments. These certainly include a set of assist systems - from twilight and rain sensors (they automatically respond to changing light and weather conditions, turning on headlights and wipers) through Audio Light Assist (high beam control system - Fabia drives all the time on the so-called long, and when the electronics detects a car coming from the opposite direction, it will change the headlights to low beam so as not to blind anyone) after the so-called active cruise control. It is enough to set the desired speed for the car to control it itself, adapting to the traffic on the road and the position of the vehicles in front of the bonnet. On the driveway, Hill Hold Control will be useful, which will save the clutch.
The new Škoda Fabia has undergone a facelift
It has slightly different details of the front fascia, new headlights, bumpers and completely different details inside. The most important thing, however, is better equipment - as standard, the Fabia gets, for example, new headlights with LED daytime running lights or - as we have already mentioned - the Hill Hold Control hill start assist system and the Easy Light Assist function responsible for automatically switching on the dipped beam headlights.
