The provisions of the annex apply to vertical road signs placed on hard roads. On dirt roads, the following are used:

- direction and locality signs (signposts, locality signs),

- other signs in situations where it is necessary for road safety (marking of railway crossings, partial or complete road closures).

It is allowed to use bicycle trail signs on these roads.

The Annex specifies for signs and plates:

- size, dimension and visibility of characters,

- colors and reflectivity,

- lettering and applied subtitles,

- rules for selecting the type of foil for the face of signs depending on the location of the sign,

- rules for placing signs on the road,

- color patterns,

- character constructions.

The terms used in the appendix mean:

a) category of signs - signs corresponding to the letter division from A to W, contained in the regulation on road signs and signals, e.g. category B - prohibition signs,

b) group of characters - characters belonging to the size group specified in the attachment, e.g. a group of uppercase characters,

c) sign variant:

- mutations of signs with similar content, e.g. variations of the sign F-8 "detour due to road closure", F-9 "sign leading on a bypass road", F-21 "traffic directed to the adjacent roadway", F- 22 "lane restrictions",

- modular variants of category F signs, depending on the number of traffic lanes,

- the same signs whose meaning is specified by symbols or inscriptions placed on or under them, e.g. variants of the B-35 "no parking" sign with different inscriptions.
