The Space Frigate, specializing in transforming satellite images into information about high resolution and high predictive value, used its technology in the fight against waste, which goes to the seas.Using the original BIG Data and machine learning technologies, it prevents plastics from entering the oceans.

We use original algorithms.We automated the whole process: from obtaining data, through their processing and calculating parameters, to creating forecasts and detecting threats.The whole is available via the Internet using a web application.Users have access to automatically generated interactive desktops - explains Santiago Alvarez.

The satellite music video used by the frigate is based on paintings collected, among othersby the European Satellites Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2.As the main monitoring technique, it also uses information from the Copernicus and Galileo land observation programs databases.These data are then analyzed, processed and transformed into practical and useful information using advanced and patented machine learning techniques.The sensors examine the Earth's surface from a height of up to 480 km, use powerful cameras to scan the planet, from which important information on air pollution, water reservoirs and desecration in various regions of the planet can be obtained.

We also analyze changes in parameters in terms of determining occurring regularities and developing forecasts, based on statistical models and artificial intelligence to prevent the threats and effects of human activities in the area of water reservoirs - the expert indicates.

The platform, based on satellite photos, monitors the coasts and the mouths of the rivers to capture waste before they reach the open sea.The IoT sensor system detects the amount of waste, and via the mobile application automatically organizes collection and recycling of plastics, which are auctioned in real time between local waste management companies.

Currently, we meet with great interest from ports, from oil companies, because these companies are aware that their errors on their part may involve the imposition of very high financial penalties and negative impact on the environment - says Santiago Alvarez.

The Space Frigate was chosen as one of 15 companies, for the PortXL program in Rotterdam, whose mission is the acceleration of innovative technologies for green energy, maritime, logistics and processing industry in port regions around the world.
